Getting married in Maui means getting to see your warm Hawaii wedding photos decorating your home during the cold snowy days! Not only do you get a little reminder of one of the most amazing days of your life, but your family and guests also get the opportunity to be in awe of your breathtaking moments.
Whether it’s a subtle 8×10 framed print set on your living room shelf or a diptych framed masterpiece hanging brilliantly on your wall, this article was made to inspire you with different ways to color your home with a bit of Maui love.
I bet you’re wondering…what is diptych? Well, it’s a creative touch we absolutely love! On a more serious note, a diptych piece is one image separated into two distinct images as seen above. Appreciate not one, but TWO captivating scenes from one image in each frame separately.
All of the images you receive are high-resolution digital images! You can enlarge prints up to 30×40 in size to maintain the professional-quality captured by your wedding photographer. Seen here is a minimum of 20×30 enlarged photos.
These epic scenes are meant to be seen! We love puns! And we love how your wedding photos also have the ability to bring a room together through color, tones, and mood.
Can we also take a moment to appreciate framed detail shots? Who wouldn’t want to have their tropical wedding bouquet framed in their home? We love this idea because you had a beautiful handmade bouquet specially made for you by our friends at Dellables, and printing your bouquet allows you to remember the significance and unique beauty you once held in your hands.
Feeling inspired to print your photos yet? We love to see your wedding photos decorating the homes of our clients, so please share with us any images you have decorating your life!

Are you recently engaged and have a dash of spontaneity? Or perhaps your original wedding plans fell through? Planning a last-minute Maui wedding is not so out of reach! Sometimes simple is best if you are hoping to tie the knot right away. Life happens, and unexpected events shouldn’t get in the way of your dream wedding. So if you have had to postpone or change your original wedding plans, thankfully, booking an impromptu Maui wedding is still possible!
Since our team has been coordinating Maui wedding ceremonies for more than ten years, we are knowledgeable about every little nuance and detail. Even while we prefer having ample time to arrange a ceremony, we are always up for the challenge of making a last-minute Maui wedding an amazing celebration. And yes, even last-minute elopements booked the day before are possible!
Planning a last-minute Maui wedding is a huge hurdle if you tackle it alone. There’s little to no wiggle room or margin for error, so we highly recommend you hire a Maui wedding coordinator for your big day.
Why do you need a coordinator for your last-minute Maui Wedding?
So let us help you “wing it”! Come take in all the splendor and magic we’ve made possible! Here are some of our favorite Maui weddings that we quickly coordinated for our beautiful couples in little time.
Time to Plan: 1 Day
What We Love About This Maui Elopement: Dellables helped us get a custom lei and flower crown for this sweet couple, who booked with us just a day before their wedding! It was so adventurous to join these two at Ironwoods Beach for a last-minute Maui wedding.
If your big wedding has been canceled, why not elope on Maui like Michelle & Camilo? Saying “I do” with just the two of you (or a handful of your closest family) is a wonderful way to celebrate your love. We realize this is an unusual time in our world’s history, so we’ve created add-ons to our Maui beach wedding packages that allow your family to watch your Big Day on high-definition or even witness the “I do” live. We also offer to ship orchid or shell leis to your loved ones so your ohana can have a mini-Maui experience in the comfort of their own homes.
Time to Plan: 2 Days
What We Love About This Maui Elopement: This last-minute, no-fuss ceremony was simple yet still really special. Shauna and Jonathan had a bright morning Maui elopement at Lahaina Shores Beach, just the two of them.
If you’re planning on a Maui vacation, why not take a leap of love and elope? We cherish Maui elopements because they offer unparalleled intimacy while still creating a big splash in the life of our couples. Eloping on Maui is an amazing way to start your journey together as a couple. With our beautiful Maui beach wedding packages, you can elope on the most magical island in the world and still be able to have a larger wedding back home.
Planning on a beach wedding in Hawaii? Or just hoping to elope on the world’s most romantic sandy venue? We’re here to help make your dreams come true!
Time to Plan: 14 days
What We Love About This Maui Wedding: This sweet Steeple House wedding was planned in just 2 weeks. While Maxine & Ryan’s group was small, they still included some traditional reception elements to their limited time at the venue, including a first dance, cake cutting, & toast.
With our custom Maui wedding venue packages, you can select add-ons like a beautiful single-tier cake decorated with flowers to match your floral, eliminating the need to coordinate with additional vendors. With over a decade of experience planning weddings in Maui, we know what our clients need and have streamlined the process, which makes last-minute weddings and elopements a piece of cake!
Time to Plan: 8 Days
What We Love About This Maui Vow Renewal: This was a Maui vow renewal lovingly booked by the mother of the groom. Even with just a week to put everything together, it all went wonderfully. Dellables created an adorable flower girl’s bouquet to match the bride’s bouquet, and the family of four got lots of adorable sunset photos. They were joined by the groom’s family, all of whom were enjoying a great Maui vacation!
If you’re celebrating an anniversary, why not surprise your special someone with an impromptu Maui vow renewal? Contact us to learn more!
Time to Plan: 35 days
What We Love About This Maui Wedding: We work with a variety of venues, from intimate to lavish, each with their own unique booking process. Because we keep a shortlist of only the best Maui wedding venues, we can plan even an extravagant Four Seasons Maui wedding with relatively little notice, just as we did for Anie & Michael. These two lovebirds said I-Do on the beautiful Wailea Lawn, complete with a full floral arch and a dove release.
Anie & Michael also wanted an exquisite reception, so we put them in contact with the team at the Four Seasons and helped turn their dreams into a reality.
Time To Plan: 33 days
What We Love About This Maui Wedding: Unlike our typical short-term booking, Nimet & Nazim were joined by lots of guests at their Maui wedding! This didn’t mean it took a lot of extra time to plan, though! We were able to secure them a beautiful location at the 5 Palms Wailea plus add in lots of personal touches, like a petal toss and a first dance! To see what other wedding add-ons we offer, come check out Our Favorite Maui Wedding Add-Ons.
With Simple Maui Wedding at the helm, a lot is possible with a last-minute ceremony! Here are a few things to keep in mind when considering a last-minute booking:
We look forward to working with you in the near future! Whether it’s a last-minute Maui wedding or a ceremony booked a year ahead of time, we can’t wait to help turn your dreams into a reality! Come fill out our easy booking form to get started!

We all dream of having an absolutely perfect Maui destination wedding, but sometimes perfect weddings include not-so-perfect moments! These are the candid shots that we absolutely love and we’re going to call them “whoops” moments.
As wedding photographers, it’s our job to capture the true memories of your special day. We shoot the traditional moments, the details, and all of the moments in between. To bring a little cheer to your day, we’ve compiled some of our favorite “whoops” moments and encourage you to have a little fun when things don’t necessarily go as planned.
When was the last time you witnessed the groom having to put his wedding ring on himself during a ceremony? We see this happen occasionally, but during this particular Maui destination wedding, the bride’s expressions said it all! We couldn’t help but laugh with her behind the lens too!
This little photo bomber was this bride and groom’s son! What a cutie enjoying the beach the best way he knows how!
Read our blog to view real Hawaii Destination Weddings! Get inspiration and tips!
Believe it or not, but this “whoops” moment was planned, so falling into the water was intentional. BUT what really made this moment was the fact this sequence was supposed to be captured on video by a relative….who forgot to press the record button!
A rogue wave might make a splash on your big day if you’re having a beach wedding, but never underestimate your guests’ ability to make a splash! We all have that one friend who isn’t afraid to showcase ALL of their personality! Remember, when your Maui destination wedding is a party, the animals come out to play! #overserved
These moments were unforgettable! So, if you’re getting ready for your Maui destination wedding, the best advice we have for you is to enjoy it and let what’s meant to be happen. You never know, it could make for amazing candids that you’ll cherish (or laugh about!) for years to come.

Getting married is a family affair, so we say, go ahead and bring your pet to your wedding on Maui!! Under the current government guidelines, bringing your furry friend to Hawaii is considerably easy while still keeping our islands safe and rabies-free.
Maui is rich with an abundance of glistening shores and nature hikes to keep your little paw-tner entertained, and pet-friendly lodging is becoming more common on the island. But if flying with your fur-baby isn’t an option, we’ll help you find creative ways to include them in spirit!
These well-trained canines brought all the love to their parents’ wedding on Maui! From wearing the most adorable mini tux and hair bows to carrying the ring, pets are family and should be included in the events whenever possible. Plus, these sweet faces make the sweetest wedding photos!
If your sweetie is staying home, then consider these clever ideas to help make them a part of the ceremony. We love the phone capture trick! Choose your favorite photo or snap one before you fly out, then dedicate a few poses to working your furry little one into a shot or two!
Or take the traditional approach, and instead of using tech, frame a sweet photo in a hue to match the vibe of your wedding, then incorporate your little ones into wedding photographs or even give them a place of honor during the ceremony.
You could also consider ordering a life-size print of your guest of pawner and displaying their likeness for all your guests to “awwww” over. We love how this special little one is positioned right next to the ceremony arch and watches over the big moment with a giant puppy dog grin!
On the other hand, if you’d rather keep your ceremony day as easy as possible without having to worry about bringing along a cut-out, let us do the adorable corny pet cameo for you! For an extra charge, our friends at Karma Hill Photography will photoshop your furry friend right by your side! These images are meant to be “meme” worthy fun, so count on cute and 100% share-worthy rather than photorealism. It’s the “LOL” factor that makes this photography add-on so awesome!
Whichever way you choose to include your special pet at your wedding on Maui, have fun with it and know that we’re here to help answer your questions!

With our resources and expert recommendations, creating your dream Hawaii wedding has never been easier! So what are you waiting for? Let’s get started planning your special day today!
Although this step is simple, we had to include it because there are so many location options to choose from! Maui’s venues and beach locations are all uniquely tropical and postcard-worthy. Our coordinators will help you narrow down your options to find the perfect location for you both.
We’re confident that your guests and photographers will love these! Who wouldn’t be thrilled that they get to join you in Hawaii for such a momentous occasion? Additionally, these beautiful invitations are ideal for including in your wedding photos on your special day. Bonus if they have a tropical theme! It’s finally here—you’ve been looking forward to your Maui wedding for months!
Definitely use tropical florals in your bouquet, lei, flower crown, or boutonnieres. With florals that are native to Hawaii, this added touch will have you and your guests indulging in the vibrant colors and scents Hawaii has to offer. You won’t regret having tropical flowers for days after your Hawaiian wedding ceremony!
And if you’re looking to add something extra special to your wedding bouquet, try incorporating orchids into your arrangements. Orchids are a popular choice in Hawaii since they come in a variety of colors and sizes, making it easy to create beautiful and unique floral designs. Whether you would like an all-white bouquet or one with several different types of foliage. Orchids are the perfect addition.
There’s a fine line between the perfect amount and overkill when it comes to wearing aloha print clothing on your wedding day. Be subtle with it. You don’t want your wedding attire be too distracting! 😉
A few key things to remember when wearing aloha print attire is to choose pieces that are comfortable, timeless, and made of quality materials. That way, you won’t have to worry about anything going wrong or feeling uncomfortable on your big day! Plus, your photos will look amazing in a classic aloha print or updated floral fusion print look.
Okay, so you want a little more personal style added to your Hawaii wedding day? Simply decorate your ceremony with Hawaii plants, pineapples, shells, and all things tropical.
We’ve seen venues with arches of beautiful Hawaiian floral arrangements! With our couple’s concept in mind, we organized spectacular floral circles and exquisitely constructed pathways for beach weddings where arches are not permitted. These stunning images below speak for themselves as to what we can create…
Every Maui minister we work with is delighted to perform the ceremony of your dreams and is able to include Hawaiian elements! Including some Hawaii wedding customs into your ceremony will give it more culture and meaning. Your hand-selected officiant will perform traditional Hawaiian chants, blow the conch shell, and dress in traditional Hawaiian attire for an authentic island celebration!
We can easily arrange tropical flower or shell leis for each of your guests as another way to say thank you for coming and enjoying your wedding in Hawaii! They will feel the aloha spirit too!
Serenade your guests through song or melody with our favorite ukulele musicians! Or go a step further and have yourself a personal Maui luau with a hula dancer as the musician plays. Enjoy the music and learn a little hula yourself while you’re at it!
Also available is The Catered Coconut for a sweet refresher after your ceremony! With fresh coconut juice made right before your eyes!
Leave your guests impressed with an experience they’ll never forget with these add-ons.
Everything from our “Just Maui’d” rental, to cute favors, cakes, cake toppers, and custom napkins (to name a few) will add personality to your Hawaii wedding day. When it comes to these details, the options are limitless! View some of our favorite additions here: Maui Wedding Add-ons. With our help, you can make your celebration as unique and memorable as you are.
We hope the above photos give you inspiration for a Hawaiian wedding full of aloha! Use some of these ideas or all of them! After your big day you’ll have wedding photos that highlight the beauty of your dream destination wedding in Hawaii

For couples wanting a Maui beach wedding that’s secluded and scenic, Ironwoods Beach might be a perfect choice! Framed by sea cliffs on both sides, the long stretch of beach overlooks sparkling blue water and often gets a warm golden glow as the sun sets. It’s no wonder this beautiful spot is one of our most popular Maui beach wedding locations.
Located in Kapalua, Ironwoods Beach doesn’t have any park facilities and has very few parking spaces. This helps make it one of the most private locations for a Maui beach wedding. However, the lack of parking and restrooms is something to keep in mind if you’re having a group of more than 15 people.
Ironwoods Beach offers so many great photo opportunities. After an intimate ceremony, there’s nothing sweeter than taking a walk along the beach with your new spouse. The Karma Hill Photography team loves capturing that sweet moment
The most notable feature at Ironwoods Beach is the dramatic sea cliffs. Lots of couples climb up on the cliffs for a majestic view of the ocean, while others awe at their size from the sand below. Shots like these are perfect for the couple looking for an adventurous elopement!
Lush greenery accents the sandy tones and blue expanse at Ironwoods Beach. We love it when couples include greenery photos in their Maui beach wedding portraits!
Tropical greenery lines the sandy beach, a grassy garden is tucked away by the stairs leading to the sand, and a boardwalk goes along the entire stretch of beach. Look at some of the photos Karma Hill Photography has captured – they’ll make you green with envy at how beautiful these couples’ wedding portraits are!
We always recommend couples don’t skimp on photography time if they choose Ironwoods as their Maui beach wedding location. There are so many great spots for photos, and it takes a bit of time to walk around the beach. So it’s always a great idea to book plenty of time with the Karma Hill Photography team.
Here are some other great photos we’ve loved from Ironwoods Beach. Special thanks to Karma Hill Photography for always taking such gorgeous photos of our couples, no matter the beach location!

Here at Simple Maui Wedding, we specialize in ceremonies! We want to make your wedding day perfect, seamless, memorable, all while keeping it Simple! Now Simple doesn’t mean that you can’t go all out and have extras, it just means we aren’t going to let you stress about it! Whether you’re having a small beach elopement or a large venue ceremony with 75 of your closest family members and friends, there are always Maui wedding add-ons that can make your day extra special!!
We’ve put together a list of the most popular add-ons that we offer at Simple Maui Wedding! However, if you choose to forgo any of these that’s just fine because our packages include everything you will need to have a perfect wedding day! But everyone loves a little something extra — come take a look and see if any of these additions are something to consider for your Big Day!
All of our packages include a beautiful wedding bouquet! We have styles that range from classic white to rustic and colorful. You can take a look at our selection of bouquets here! Although sometimes having something more personalized might better suit you. So we offer custom bouquets starting at an additional $85 upgrade fee.
You send us a picture or tell us what you have in mind, and we’ll check with our fabulous florist and do our best to turn that fantasy into reality! Some specific varietals of flowers are seasonal, but we’ll always do our best to get the look and feel that you are going for. After all, your bouquet will be in just about every picture, so we want it to match you perfectly!!
Who says only the ladies can have gorgeous blooms! Boutonnieres are important Maui wedding add-ons that really tie the groom’s style in with the beautiful bride! We have them created to match the wedding bouquet, which also adds a nice touch to the attire. Boutonnieres start at $45 and bring a pop of color to any groom’s outfit: tux or button-up, these classic touches elevate the occasion to refined luxury.
Flower crowns are absolutely stunning, and we love how they look on our gorgeous brides! They can be tropical or soft, petite or large, or even just created with greenery if that’s more your style. Typically flower crowns are created to match your bouquet, but if you’d like something a little different, we can make that happen.
Flower crowns start at $125 and your coordinator will deliver them to the beach or venue along with your bouquet just before the ceremony begins. We will help you get it all situated and looking picture-perfect for your photos!
Flower petals are the perfect addition to any wedding, beach or venue!! We love to set up the perfect shot where your guests are surrounding you and throwing petals into the air in celebration! It’s a special moment and looks AMAZING in photos!! The cost for a bag of petals is $60 and depending on your guest count we sometimes recommend 2 or 3 bags. We always try to leave our beaches just the way we found them so our coordinators will do their best to pick up all the petals after the shot.
Read our blog to view real Hawaii Destination Weddings! Get inspiration and tips!
You can add a gorgeous petal aisle to a venue wedding and reuse those beautiful flowers for a petal toss afterward. Unfortunately, petal aisles don’t really work on the beach because the wind tends to blow them all away, but at venues it’s a perfect way to adorn the grassy aisle. For a full aisle we recommend 5-6 bags of petals.
Flower circles are a stunning way to add style to your beach ceremony. We are limited by state regulations as to what we can put in the sand, but with flower circles, we’ve got the green light, and we highly recommend them! Check out these beautiful works of art below!
To add a flower circle (or half-circle) to your beach wedding, just let your coordinator know and we will give you a custom quote. It really depends on the thickness and types of flowers so they can range in price, but a good starting point is $500.
As we mentioned, we are pretty limited on what we’re able to put into the sand for beach ceremonies. We aren’t allowed to bring chairs or have arches, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add other kinds of fun!
Check out these pineapple and lantern aisles that we’ve done! We can add a driftwood altar for you to stand between or even gorgeous flower arrangements. We have to stay in line with the state restrictions but there are lots of ways to add some personality to your Maui beach wedding. Check with us for custom pricing or let us know if you have any other fabulous ideas for beach decor!
We love to add arches to our venue ceremonies! With most of our venues, we’ve got full creative license to bring any gorgeous arch and floral you can imagine. And these days, the options are endless! A traditional 4 post arch with white fabric and floral is beautiful but we also offer stunning circle arches like the ones pictured below. Or maybe a rustic driftwood arch is more your style.
Whatever you prefer just let us know and we will give you a custom quote with and without floral arrangements. A little tip from us: if you are having a dinner reception after your ceremony those arch arrangements can be re-purposed to add decor to your dinner table. We’ll bring the scissors, and you assign your fabulous in-laws to get those to your restaurant and you’re good to go!
Who says a wedding ceremony just means walking down the aisle and saying “I do”? This is your Big Day, don’t be afraid to spice it up a bit! Whether you have guests to entertain or not, we’ve put together some of our favorite ceremony add-on’s to cover all your Hawaiian wedding dreams!
We realize that sometimes those traditional elements such as cake cutting and toasts can be left out of Maui weddings on the beach and we wanted to give you the opportunity to bring that back! We offer a delicious white vanilla cake adorned in flowers to match your bouquet as well as an apple cider toast for the two of you to enjoy (We aren’t allowed to have alcohol on the beaches so apple cider will have to do).
Of course our photographers will capture this moment for you, so it also comes with an additional 1/2 hour of photography and 25 more images for just $550. These items are also offered a la carte if you don’t think you’d want both the cake and cider toast.
Planning on a beach wedding in Hawaii? Or just hoping to elope on the world’s most romantic sandy venue? We’re here to help make your dreams come true!
Musicians are very popular here in Hawaii! Everyone enjoys the music of the Hawaiian culture, and part of that love is sharing it with others. You can add a local ukulele or guitar player for just $350 for 1 hour. They will serenade your guests as they await your arrival, strum lightly during your ceremony, and bless you with a sweet song after you’re pronounced! Some couples even enjoy a first dance to their favorite song. Note: Harpists can be added as well but that pricing varies by location (can you imagine getting that thing down onto the beach?)
The perfect addition to that fabulous musician is a one of a kind hula show. These amazing dancers will entertain your guests with beautiful hula. They can even teach your Maui wedding guests the art of hula and have them join in the fun. The price of a hula dancer with a musician is just $525.
If all of these things are right up your alley, we’ve created an add-on for that too! Our Mini Beach Reception package includes a Hawaiian musician and 2 hula dancers for 1 hour, a 1-tier white wedding cake with flowers, an apple cider toast for two, and an extra 1/2 hour of photography. The cost for everything is just $1075.
You’ve seen all kinds of Just Maui’d signs but never one like this! This beautiful wooden circle Just Maui’d Sign comes adorned in floral to match your bouquet. It’s light and easy to hold and perfect for that one of kind look. Of course, we offer it to all our couples but surely none of your friends will have this sign (unless they book with us too). The cost to rent this beauty is just $95.
This is your special day!! You’ve spent time thinking, planning, but hopefully not stressing over this day and we want you to have everything you can to remember it! That’s why photography time is one of the best Maui wedding add-ons. We can document special moments like you getting ready, reception coverage, or even a Trash the Dress session the very next day. Extra photography time can be added for $350 for 30 minutes of coverage and that includes an additional 25 images, or $700 for 1 hour of coverage and that includes 50 additional edited images. Check out your options here for additional photography time:
Those moments leading up to your “I Do’s” are so special and if you’re up for it we’d love to have our photographers document it for you. Many of our couples will book an extra 30-60 minutes of photography time to capture those final touches of makeup, you getting into your dress, or sharing a quick hug with family. These moments help pull together the full story of the wedding day and our photographers enjoy capturing them.
Sometimes adding on coverage at the tail end of your Maui wedding is more your style. Our photographers can stay past sunset if you would like and capture all the fun that you have planned for your guests. From table decor to first dances all the way to your father’s toast, you can add on photography time to ensure those moments are memorialized as well.
The day after the wedding tends to be much more relaxing than the wedding day. You can let your hair down, revel in the love you share, and usually the bouquet is still in great shape for photos. We offer a trash the dress session for just $599 on a different day of your wedding. You don’t actually have to “trash your dress” either. You can just add that session to get more pictures of the two of you.
Videography is a very popular Maui wedding add-on. Although we don’t do videography in-house, we do have some amazing vendors that we work with that can create a gorgeous memoir of your wedding day. We usually recommend having the videographer there as long as the photographer so they can work together to capture all the special moments as a team.
Then about 8-12 weeks after your wedding (3-4 for pictures), your video will arrive and you’ll be able to relive that day all over again. Videography starts at $1100 for 1 hour of coverage.
Check out a teaser for one of our fabulous Maui wedding videos here:
Our custom designed 10×10 wedding album with thick, lay-flat pages is the perfect addition to your photography collection! You get to highlight all your favorite pictures from your big day and show them off on your coffee table for just $699. If the album isn’t your thing, another great option is our custom wooden USB. We print 2 of your favorite pictures on the outside of this gorgeous box and USB and then load it up with your selected pictures! It’s the perfect keepsake for your Oahu wedding!

When online costs range from $5,750 to $32,900, finding exact Hawaii destination wedding cost figures can be very difficult. Fortunately for you, we’ve decoded the costs in this thorough essay! Luckily for you, we’ve demystified the prices in this comprehensive article!
First, we’ll break down the costs, starting with the typical beach ceremony and reception fees. Next, we’ll discuss venue ceremony and reception fees and travel and lodging expenses until arriving at a simple GRAND total. Along the process, we’ll go into the specifics and even throw in a few real-world wedding scenarios for illustration.
Whatever your financial constraints or budget, Simple Maui Wedding is here to assist you in making your fantasy wedding a reality!
Read all the way to the bottom for a full breakdown, from plane tickets to “I do.”
Before discussing the travel and lodging expenses, let’s get right to the heart of the subject and compare beach and venue pricing for Hawaii weddings, from the bare essentials to all the add-ons.
We estimate the total ceremony AND reception costs for Hawaii destination weddings to be $3,738 for beach ceremonies and $9,907 for venue weddings.
Now let’s look at how we got those numbers. Keep scrolling for travel and accommodation prices!
Our couples spend an average of $3,475 for BEACH wedding packages (with add-ons). Total costs range from $3,100 to $7,250.
Our four Maui beach wedding packages at Simple Maui Wedding range in price from $2,550 to $3,850. The “Beach Elopement” option, which includes an hour of photography coverage, is the one we start with. Our biggest package, called “Stunning Beach Wedding,” comes with 3 hours of photography coverage. Our “Simply Beautiful Beach Wedding” package is the most popular, which costs $2,850 and includes 1.5 hours of photography coverage and all of the elements listed in the chart below, is the most popular.
Not every couple decides to include extras, but when they do, our most popular add-ons for Maui beach weddings are the custom bouquet upgrade ($85), flower crown ($125), and rental of our one-of-a-kind “Just Maui’d” Sign ($95). Other frequent requests include vendor services like videography ($1100) and live music ($350).
The total costs for Hawaii beach receptions: range from $0 (None) – $1,075. Averages out to $538
While a typical dinner reception is not permitted on a Hawaiian beach, we can provide a delightful “Mini Reception” as part of our beach wedding packages. A one-tier white wedding cake with fresh flowers, a cake table, plate, napkins, and a cake server are all included in the $1,075 price. Also included are sparkling cider toasts for the couple and their guests, a hula dancer, a musician, the couple’s first dance, and an additional half-hour of photography.
In addition, we provide a $525 “Cake Cutting Ceremony & Toast Package” that includes cake, cider, and an additional half-hour of photography. Instead of throwing a big reception, many of our couples choose items ala carte such as one of our elegant yet understated wedding cakes ($175) and cider for their guests ($50), then go out to dinner at a chic restaurant or luau afterward.
Read our blog to view real Hawaii Destination Weddings! Get inspiration and tips!
Our couples spend an estimated average of $7,200 for VENUE wedding packages (with add-ons). Total costs range from $3,575 to $12,700.
Location, property type, and demand are three variables that affect the price of Hawaii wedding venues. While the price of a hotel or resort can easily exceed both, a private location will generally be more expensive than a restaurant. Let’s look at Simple Maui Wedding’s venue packages, which cover all three of the aforementioned varieties, to get a solid idea of the entire figures.
Our Maui venue wedding packages range from $4,300 to $10,200, bookended by the beautiful and affordable Gannon’s restaurant (our most popular venue) and the luxurious Four Seasons Resort in Wailea. Check out our price guide below to get a visual rundown of what each package offers.
Add-ons for Hawaii venue weddings often cost a little more than beach affairs because of the ceremony arch ($475 – $800) and the florals for the attendees of honor. Many of our couples also opt for vendor services like extra photography time, videography, live music (included in the Four Seasons Package), and custom bouquets.
The average cost for Hawaii venue receptions with 15 guests range from $2,165 – $11,000 plus and averages out to roughly $4,707.
Although we don’t organize receptions at Simple Maui Wedding, we can put you in touch with the events staff so you can make a direct reservation with the vendor of your choice. We’ll run the numbers against the average guest count for our Hawaii destination weddings to determine the expenditures associated with the reception: 15.
A two-course meal at Gannon’s restaurant costs roughly $51 per person. For an unforgettable night, you’d also want to reserve their lower lawn ($500), open a cash bar ($100), rent their sound system ($300) and mini dance floor ($200), and include a cake and toast ($300).
Events in this private venue require a minimum food and beverage spending of $300 per person excluding tax and service fees. This price point usually consists of cocktail reception appetizers, dinner selection, wedding cake, and beverages. Any optional enhancements or upgrades will increase the overall price tag.
✦ We put the following numbers at the top of this article but figured they were so important we should list them twice!
This puts the estimated total ceremony AND reception costs for Hawaii BEACH weddings at $3,738 and for VENUE weddings at $9,907, without flights and accommodations.
Using the above averages, here’s a quick ballpark estimate of where your money will go in both a beach and venue Hawaii destination wedding:
After all this, you may be wondering what Hawaii destination wedding package is right for you…? Let us help you figure it out by looking at some examples!
(Bride & Groom Only)
Let’s assume that you and your partner desire to elope in Maui for the purposes of this example. You look at our Beach Elopement Package because you want to make it as easy as possible. You book it for $2,550 and decide against adding any extras since you are thrilled with what is offered, adore the available floral options, and are more than satisfied with an hour of photography.
For your reception, you also keep it simple with one of our beautiful a la carte wedding cakes ($175) and cut into it right there on the beach. You follow your wedding with dinner at a world-class restaurant for about $200.
(With 15 Guests)
What if you don’t want to elope? Let’s say you decide to get married on the beach with 15 guests. We would recommend our package 4 (“Stunning Beach Wedding” for $4,600) because the bride wants extra photography time for getting ready coverage. The bride saw our Instagram @simplemauiwed and fell in love with a custom bouquet that cost $85 extra. You also have two bridesmaids who need attendant bouquets ($125 x 2 = $250), 2 groomsmen with boutonnieres ($45 x 2 = $90), you want a musician ($350), shell leis for the guests ($3 x 15 = $45), a videographer ($1100), and the just Maui’d sign ($95).
For your reception, you decide to have dinner with all your guests at a High-end restaurant which costs about $55 per person + an extra $30 per person for drinks ($85 x 15 = $1,275). Plus 15% gratuity and a custom wedding cake ($350) and your reception will cost right around $1,816.
(With 15 Guests)
Now let’s look at venue weddings. Let’s say you have 15 guests and want all the same add-ons from the standard beach wedding example above ($2,010), plus a custom arch (roughly $800) but would prefer to have the ceremony at Gannon’s. So you book our Gannon’s Grassy Knoll Package for $3,575.
For your reception, you choose the convenience of staying at Gannon’s and purchasing all the reception items listed earlier in our Gannon’s reception section. A two-course meal at Gannon’s restaurant will cost you roughly $51 per person. For an unforgettable night, you’d also want to reserve their lower lawn ($500), open a cash bar ($100), rent their sound system ($300) and mini dance floor ($200), and include a cake and toast ($300). For a simple venue reception with only 15 guests at Gannon’s, the bare minimum punches in at roughly $2250.
Of course, these examples are just ballpark prices. If your ceremony takes place at the Four Seasons and you hold your reception there as well, your total Maui destination wedding cost could easily reach $21,000 before travel and accommodations are calculated in.
Planning on a beach wedding in Hawaii? Or just hoping to elope on the world’s most romantic sandy venue? We’re here to help make your dreams come true!
Your trip to Hawaii with a 7-night hotel stay for two, plus Round Trip Flights for Two, plus Daily Spending will cost roughly $6,931
Valuepenguin tallies a roundtrip to Hawaii from $400 to more than $2,000, but these averages include first-class travelers. Most of our couples can fly coach to Honolulu from the continental U.S. for between $500 and $800 and then island-hop for an extra $112 each to Maui.
Total roundtrip travel costs average out to $1524 a couple, but many cities like LA (where most of Maui’s visitors visit from) can get tickets for much cheaper.
Visitor statistics estimate the average daily lodging price on Maui to be $104 per person, with an average visitor stay of one week (7.7 days). For our estimates, we’re going to double this cost because the prices have likely been skewed by backpack travelers who opt for timeshares, Air BnBs, family accommodations, and even tents. Oahu lodging rates will also tip the numbers because their accommodations tend to be more affordable due to the dense population. This brings the bare minimum price of lodging to $1,456 per week.
However, when it comes to hotels, our clients tend to favor the Hyatt, The Westin, and The Marriott Wailea Beach Resort. The average price for a 1-night stay at these award-winning resorts tallies close to $465 (ranging from $328 during the off-season in November to up to $800+ in the peak summer months). We estimate most couples will stay at least 2 nights (the day before and the night of their wedding), and looking at the experience of our own clients, we agree with the government data that reports most visitors stay for roughly one week.
With hotel costs calculated in, this brings the estimated lodging cost up to $2,530 for a 7-night stay with two nights at a high-end hotel or $3,255 for an entire week at one of these pricier resorts.
According to Hawaii government data, the average Hawaii visitor spending is roughly $109 a day ($829 x 2 = $1,658 total). However, suppose you’re coming to get married. In that case, this trip is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we advise tacking on an extra $500 for extra add-ons with adventure activities and Honeymoon expenses. That puts the estimated spending at $2,158 ($1,658 + $500). Add to that the price of a rental car (averages to $51 a day when fees are calculated in), and the total spending for one week comes out to $2,515.
Here’s where it actually matters: Let’s calculate a precise estimate of the cost of getting married in Hawaii, including everything from your airfare to saying “I do”…
The average TOTAL cost of a BEACH Hawaii Destination Wedding comes out to $10,659, ranging from $8,295 – $23,995 (depending greatly on your reception choice). Average beach Ceremony ($3,200), plus simple beach Reception ($528), plus travel and accommodation ($6,931).
The average TOTAL cost of a VENUE Hawaii Destination Wedding comes to $16,838, ranging from $11,123 – $33,208. Average venue Ceremony ($5,200), plus average venue Reception ($4,707), plus travel and accommodation ($6,931).
Do remember that these costs can differ widely and can cover everything from a beach elopement to a standard beach wedding with 15+ guests, all the way up to an extravagant venue wedding with a lavish reception.
We advise you to create a budget that works for you, but plan for it to exceed that estimated amount by at least 15%. According to a WeddingWire research, couples typically budget about $23,000 for their wedding but actually spend close to $30,000. That is a 30% increase than allotted. So plan a budget with some wiggle room when estimating the price of your Hawaii destination wedding.
Not only are there countless wedding must-haves, but when you plan a destination wedding in the “Aloha State” and discover all of the fantastic attractions here, you’ll see why spending a little more can result in memories that will last a lifetime.
While planning your budget, be sure to also weigh in these considerations:
One FINAL thing to consider:
The price of an average US wedding is close to $30,000 while the average Hawaii destination wedding costs between $9,500 and $15,600…
Lastly, for all you visual learners, here’s a breakdown of the Hawaii destination wedding costs examined in this article.

There might be a little voice in the back of your head asking if you should just coordinate your Maui wedding yourself while looking for the best possibilities. Dream wedding coordination is all about the easy breezy, right? After all, DIY-ing may be quite fulfilling. However, is it a good idea (and realistic) to move the self-doing out of the craft zone and into the realm of major life events? Our Maui wedding planners make your big day and the whole process seamless and dreamy.
If you are absolutely amazing at organizing and keeping names, emails, and phone numbers from multiple people straight to make sure they all show up on time for a 1 to 2-hour window — Or are you the type of person who wouldn’t hire a contractor to manage your construction project? Then DIY-ing your wedding coordination might be right up your alley. The outcome you get is all up to how well ‘YOU” manage all the moving pieces. Is it really worth the risk and worry? Your dream wedding day should be stress-free and completely all about the commitment you and your partner are about to make.
We are soooo happy we came across Simple Maui Wedding because it was exactly what we needed.
They made EVERYTHING well, simple!
~ Taylor ~
However…
The Maui wedding planning process is an extremely time-consuming endeavor. It can take as much time as a full-time job. You will be forever grateful to not have to worry about anything before your big day – trust us!
That’s not to say it’s impossible to DIY… but planning a wedding on Maui is a lot different than organizing a ceremony back home. Your best friend may not be the person you want to put under so much pressure either! You’ll be dealing with wedding vendors you know little about and making important decisions about places you’ve never seen in person. And you on your wedding, wouldn’t you want your focus to be on your partner rather than the minor details of your destination wedding?
Even if you are able to complete the paperwork while on vacation in Hawaii, carefully consider whether you really need to take time away from relaxing and enjoying your trip with your loved ones. You’ll have to wait until the very last minute to finalize the details, respond to emails, and locate the numerous items needed to put together your stress-free dream Maui wedding.
Keep in mind that:
If you’re set on DIYing your Big Day, then follow along with us as we help you detail out the steps involved in planning your perfect dream wedding in Hawaii.
This is probably the most important element of DIY wedding planning.
We utilize a wide range of venues to meet and surpass the needs of any destination wedding in Hawaii. Our Maui wedding coordinators have spent years compiling a list of reputable locations and stunning beaches on our beautiful island, but it took them hundreds of hours of study and on-site visits. And they have developed solid and trusting relationships with our wedding venues over the years. Booking a destination is probably possible, but bear in mind that web pictures can be outdated. Our excellent planners will inform you of any alterations, such as neighboring construction sites, beach closures, or other information. Their years of experience are invaluable! As you can see it’s a whole planning process for your special day just to research what you’re looking to book!
If you plan on doing it yourself, then the first thing you need to consider is what location type you’d prefer: a venue or a beach?
There is one caveat to planning your own destination wedding; oftentimes, venues won’t work with clients if they don’t have a planner. Ceremonies and receptions can turn into total chaos without a conductor at the helm to make sure everything goes to plan. We have handpicked the best venue weddings in Hawaii from luxury resorts like the Four Seasons to boutique hotels like Hotel Wailea. Communication between you and the venue through the whole process is critical if they are open to working with a DIY planner. However, there is a handful that will communicate with DIY planners, you’ll just have to spend extra time shopping around as you make note of the following considerations:
Our expert wedding coordination team know all the ins and outs of Hawaii beach weddings and Maui elopements. Almost all beaches in the state are open to the public and that means they’re subject to a long list of regulations and restrictions. If anyone’s a pro on this topic, we are! We know how to ensure an officer isn’t going to tap you on the shoulder as you’re saying “I do’ and ask for your wedding permit. Talk about a wedding crasher!
We also have the ability to make split-second decisions on your wedding day based on factors such as the weather, location, crowd size, wind, and even your guests. There are many details to consider while planning a beach wedding on the beautiful island of Maui, whether you’re merely eloping to Maui or inviting 30 guests. Our wedding planning staff are experts on the island, different beaches throughout the season, and know the best locations that suit such a celebration like these iconic beaches on the North Shore and South Side. Having said that, if you decide to DIY, start by taking into account are few of the factors listed below:
You’ll need to vet all the wedding vendors you’re planning on hiring, including your minister. Research multiple Maui ministers and browse their reviews to see if they’re a good match for you. Do they provide a quality ceremony? Do you know anyone who’s worked with them before? It’s important to figure out who this person is and how they’ll perform the ceremony. We work with many of the same ministers over and over because we know they’re passionate and trustworthy. It makes the whole process so much more seamless on your big day when you can trust your minister and that they love, love!
There’s a reason why they say a picture is worth a thousand words. High-quality Maui wedding photography is irreplaceable. No matter how beautiful your memories are, if they’re not captured behind a lens they’ll eventually fade with time. Getting married is one of life’s biggest moments, you don’t want to miss out on a single second of it. Without a doubt, you will want to relive this moment and share it with those who couldn’t make it. We work exclusively with our highly-reviewed sister company, Karma Hill Photography, which means our Maui wedding coordinators and the KHP photographers work in tandem to seamlessly capture all of the most unforgettable moments, from the first look to the posed portraits. Besides your love, your Maui wedding photography will continue to live on far past your wedding day!

Just as with everything on this list for your wedding day, finding a Maui florist begins with research. You’ll want to contact at least 3 wedding vendors and ask for images of the bouquets they offer as well as a list of price points. Many of the brides we work with request custom bouquets that our hand-selected florists can artfully match. If you’d like to add this personalized touch, reach out to your florist with photos of your desired bouquet. If it’s possible for them to create, make notes of any upcharges or additional fees.
If you’re not working with a Maui wedding coordinator for your Maui wedding or Maui elopement for your big day, then finding a quality musician on the island can be tricky. Many local professionals find work via Facebook or word of mouth, so our advice is to check multiple social media sites as well as Craigslist, refreshing often. Keep in mind that separating talented musicians from those just starting out is crucial. Be sure to request a sample of their LIVE work to ensure quality and only seek out musicians with reviews from previous clients. All of the musicians we hire are well-established and have built a portfolio of quality performances and punctuality.
If you’re not an accountant by day, paying all of your vendors on time/correctly might be difficult to juggle. Especially if you are off galavanting on your honeymoon! Some vendors may require partial payment upfront, others will want it in full, while some might send you an invoice weeks after providing their service. Using a wedding planner means you’ll be able to pay us in your most convenient method, and we’ll pay the wedding vendors. A stress-free solution to any sticky financial situations that could arise! We use a system designed specifically to sort out vendor fees and keep track of any upcharges to ensure you’re not overcharged or hit with unnecessary late fees. If you plan on DIYing your Maui wedding coordination yourself, then consider a quality bookkeeping program that will help you manage the finances, or hopefully, you are good with Excel. It can be quite the process if you’re not good with numbers and tracking invoices, so they better you can be organized throughout the planning process, the better. Feeling stress-free about payments going through and sent is not a detail you want to worry about on your wedding day!
You might be thinking, “This is so much work! Can I do all of this?” Well, if you’re an excellent planner, you might be the rare personality type that CAN pull off a beautiful DIY wedding. To give you an example of what that entails, we combed over our own high standards for our day of wedding coordinators on Maui and composed this checklist from the attributes they have in common.
Even if you are all of these things, do you really want to be worrying out these details on your wedding day? Is it worth it?
To be honest, coordinating your own Maui wedding isn’t feasible for most people. A wedding planner will help you with the finer details and numbers, which is why our Maui wedding packages make such a no-brainer and affordable option. We’ll ensure deliveries arrive on time, and handle payments so you can manage them in one easy way. Our coordinators will take care of all the last-minute tasks, so you can just enjoy your vacation and spend time with your guests before the wedding.
Maui wedding coordination takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Most of the time, our clients only know a fraction of what we’re doing because we want their Hawaii wedding experience to be carefree. This gives our couples time to relax and indulge with their friends and family. We’re the ones who will break a sweat.
It has taken our company over 13 years to perfect wedding coordination in Maui. Using Simple Maui Wedding gives you instant access to reliable, thoroughly vetted vendors and true professionals. We are forever grateful for an amazing staff that has completed thousands of weddings and has seen nearly every situation. A vast list of wedding industry contacts on every side of the island, so if something goes sideways behind the scenes, we know who to call and fix it at a minute’s notice. Every one of our staff and vendors thinks on their feet and creates solutions to any situation your special day may throw at us. We love the challenge.
To put it another way, being a Maui wedding coordinator reminds us of this famous anecdote:
A woman approached Picasso in a restaurant, asked him to scribble something on a napkin, and said she would be happy to pay whatever he felt it was worth. Picasso complied and then said, “That will be $10,000.”
“But you did that in thirty seconds,” the astonished woman replied.
“No,” Picasso said. “It has taken me forty years to do that.”

At Simple Maui Wedding, we’ll plan your beautiful ceremony, but we want you to have the best experience, from getting ready to the reception! We’ve put together some of our top Maui wedding reception venues to help you plan your after-party: whether you’d prefer a romantic table for two or a large venue for all your friends and family to dance the night away, Maui has some of the world’s most beautiful options!
Follow along with us as we detail our top Maui wedding reception venues!
Located in the heart of Wailea and just steps from the shores of Polo Beach, the Fairmont Kea Lani offers luxurious accommodations and world-renowned dining. Two of our favorite Maui wedding reception venues are located on the grounds of this resort: Ko Restaurant and Nick’s Fishmarket. Both restaurants offer tropical atmospheres and unbeatable cuisine.
From their website
“Fairmont Kea Lani’s signature restaurant Kō features award-winning cuisine inspired by the vast collection of ethnicities brought together during Maui’s sugarcane plantation era. Taste generations of local cuisine deeply rooted in the island’s culture and history. With over 90% of fish, beef, and produce sourced locally, the flavors are as authentic as they are sustainable.”
Located in the Fairmont Kea Lani, this restaurant sits near Polo Beach and is only a short drive away from any of our South Maui Beaches.
You can choose to either dine within the restaurant for smaller tables or book a private, intimate location surrounded by tropical palm trees, exotic flowers, and flickering torches.
With their intuitive “group dining menus,” planning a reception in Maui has never been easier…
You can add beautiful centerpieces to your Maui wedding floral order to bring an elegant personal touch to the decor of your table.
From their website
“Nick’s Fishmarket blends unique island tastes with a beautiful atmosphere to create a dining experience like to no other in South Maui.”
Nick’s Fishmarket is also situated in the beautiful Fairmont Kea Lani resort in Wailea. The name says it all: their cuisine is famous for its upscale, seafood driven menu, but they do offer meats and vegetarian dishes as well.
They can accommodate an intimate party of 2 at a table overlooking the resort OR they have a private dining room for larger parties that can be decorated however you’d like.
Speaker systems are restricted out of respect to other restaurant guests, but you can have a musician, a small hula show, or even a romantic first dance as husband and wife!
To give it a personal touch, you could add a couple of centerpieces to your flower order or work with our florist to set up the reception decor of your dreams.
Gannon’s Restaurant is one of our favorite venues for Maui weddings. With sweeping panoramic ocean views and spectacular sunsets, Gannon’s is the perfect spot to say “I do” and then party the night away. The grounds are extensive, which means plenty of location options for your Maui reception.
From their website
“Voted one of the Top 100 Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants in America, Gannon’s Restaurant in Wailea is a celebration of the classic dishes for which Chef Beverly Gannon is best known from her award-winning Maui restaurants (Hali’imaile General Store and the former Joe’s Bar & Grill) and contemporary dishes inspired by the fresh local ingredients of Hawaii.”
Gannon’s Lower Lawn is a great option for larger receptions on Maui with a little more focus on the guests’ experience. This reception spot is just off of the restaurant, so it’s private enough that you won’t get other restaurant-goers walking through.
What we love about this location is that it can have the look & feel of a traditional reception (with custom table layouts, a dance floor, and your own bar), but it’s still simple and budget-friendly like a restaurant reception!
It sits right above the ceremony lawn, so if you’re having a Gannon’s Grassy Knoll wedding ceremony, your guests can head right up to the reception while you venture to the beach for sunset newly-wed portraits.
They allow a DJ and dancing at this venue, and they also have an in-house staff that will help you plan the menu, bar, and dancing.
This area is used as a rain backup if you have a wedding planned at Gannon’s. The staff will prepare the area so you have a lovely ceremony set up that they can quickly flip into a reception.
Even though it’s a backup option, it’s still beautiful, lively, and semi-private. There’s enough room for dinner and dancing, and you’ll still be away from the rest of the restaurant.
If it’s not too windy, then you can overflow onto the patio where there are illuminated Palm Trees and a tropical pond.
Gannon’s indoor reception features the same delicious menu and decor options as their outdoor location.

You don’t have to book a large reception to enjoy the fabulous food and ambiance of Gannon’s. Their Upper Pond and Lower Pond (see photos above) offer tables on the sweeping terrace of their restaurant that will make your smaller group feel just as special.
You can have a cake cutting and a set menu just like a full reception, and enjoy the beautiful grounds that the golf course offers.
See below for another small table setup at Gannon’s Upper Pond location.
Voted “Top 21 Most Romantic Hotels in the World” by Conde Nast Traveller and “100 Best Hotels in the World” by Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, the Hotel Wailea is more of an oasis than a hotel, and their Maui wedding receptions venues certainly follow suit.
From their website
“The grand Anuhea Ballroom, with its cathedral ceilings, rich hardwood floors, and soaring windowed walls is spectacular. Celebrate your event surrounded by cascading waterfalls on one side and dramatic sunset views across the ocean on the other.”

Voted “Top 10 Restaurants in Maui,” this gorgeous Maui wedding reception venue features exquisite cuisine and sweeping panoramic views. You can enjoy the amazing food of The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea in a semi-private outdoor garden setting.
This intimate space is perfect for a quick first dance and quiet enough for a toast.

If you select this breezy outdoor Maui wedding reception venue, you’ll have views of the resorts fountains and swaying palms. The hotel will do the catering for your meal and the staff will be available to help with decorations and planning.
From their website
“At Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, our golden sands are lined by tropical greenery, towering palm trees and the clear blue waves of the Pacific, creating a picture-perfect setting for one of the most important moments of your life.”
This Maui reception venue at the Four Seasons is intimate and casual, while perfectly melding upscale contemporary with rustic beach vibes. You’ll overlook the ocean as you dine at a private table with a custom menu created by their expert chefs. This locale is one of our personal favorites for small receptions — even the founders of Simple Maui Wedding, Karma & Steve Hill, selected it to celebrate their vow renewal! Check out their sweet photos above.
The Four Seasons also has other lovely lawns to choose from. If a restaurant setting is preferred, this venue has several upscale restaurants such as Spago, Ferraro’s, and Duo to choose from.
From their website
“The 1,500 square foot chapel is a stunning canvas for your ceremony or special event. Your guests will enter through grand French doors to the open room and elevated wooden platform. If you are using The Steeple House for a special event, the altar can serve many entertainment purposes.”
Built in the 1950s, The Steeple House is in the beautiful area of Kapalua, close to Ironwoods Beach and the Ritz Carlton.
This Maui wedding reception venue offers a lovely indoor setting where you can create a custom experience. The venue partners with Celebrations Catering, who can help with food, staffing, rentals, and more.
You can also rent their outdoor lawn for a reception under a tent.
We plan ceremonies here as well, so it’s a great option if you want to keep your ceremony and reception in one place.

Just because you’re saying “I do” in paradise, doesn’t automatically mean your guests are going to have a wonderful time. For many, this might be their first trip to Hawaii and they’re anxious about what to expect. For others, budget concerns may be secretly looming behind their enthusiastic congratulations.
So how do you ensure your friends and family truly enjoy the occasion? It all starts in the planning stage! Scroll on for 8 easy ways to make your guests happy at your Hawaii destination wedding!
First things first, hire a local wedding planner. While some out-of-state companies will try to coordinate your Hawaii wedding remotely, the overall experience is sure to be distant and possibly nerve-wracking. Hiring someone who lives in Hawaii cuts out the middleman and allows you an opportunity for a real human-to-human connection.
A Hawaiian wedding planner will not only take better care of you, but they’re experts on the locale and have amazing connections. A local planner will help you make the best decisions to ensure your guests are happy and satisfied.
Just take these words from Miranda L: “Planning a beach wedding from out of state can be stressful but Simple Maui Wedding made everything so easy. They answered every question or concern I had, they responded so fast to all my emails. It could not have been more perfect.”
Hawaii hotels are not cheap. As a bride or groom, opting for the highest price tag makes sense–it’s your Big Day and you deserve the best money can buy! But your guests might already be cracking into their piggy banks just to afford the plane tickets. So research ahead of time or ask your wedding planner for a list of affordable lodging in the area. If you’ve hired locally, your wedding planner will be more than familiar with the town and able to give you the insider scoop.
If you are looking to trim costs, we recommend looking into condos in the area. Most are much more affordable than the average hotel and feature kitchen units, which means big savings on food costs! For a family of 4, why spend $100 + per day on a hotel breakfast (not including tip), when you can make it in your condo for less than $25?
Your guests’ experience can be dramatically different depending on the location and time of day. For instance, with Hawaii beach weddings, the guest count is legally restricted to 30, and items that need to be stuck into the sand (like chairs or arches) are also prohibited. Beach access can also pose a problem for those who are movement-restricted or elderly.
Rain is also common in Hawaii… While they might not boast sandy shores, most venues in Hawaii have an indoor option, ample parking, and feature gorgeous views. A wedding venue can ensure rain doesn’t affect your Big Day, and that may help you sleep better at night knowing you thought of everything. Also, if you plan your timing accordingly, you can usually get some beach photos even if your venue isn’t on the beach.
Ask your wedding planner for the pros and cons of each locale so you can determine a spot that’s still a dream-worthy place to say “I do” but is also comfortable for every guest.
Doing so made a big difference for Nikki K: “I love that Simple Maui Wedding gave suggestions and were honest when the location we wanted was under construction and wouldn’t be as pretty.”
Things happen, and sometimes destination weddings in Hawaii need to be postponed or rescheduled (just look at what happened with COVID-19). But a global pandemic aside, traveling is never without risks, and flight insurance provides that extra bit of cushion if the unforeseen happens. The last thing you or your guests want during a trip to Hawaii is to worry about a flight cancelation or lost luggage.
Hawaii has a ton of stunning days with sunshine and blue skies…. Which means it can get HOT! And humid and windy. So let your guests know ahead of time about the weather basics.
Have them bring a stylish hat for the occasion, put on sunscreen an hour before, and opt for an updo in case of wind. You should also inform women in your party that fixing a hairstyle can be difficult in the humid Hawaiian weather. Suggest they schedule in at least 30 extra minutes for hair and beauty prep.
If your ceremony is taking place on the beach, your guests will also need a heads up about the possibility of rain. And don’t forget to let them know what kind of shoes are best for the sandy shore: nothing beats sandals, slippers, or bare feet. You could also make a cute little basket like this one!
While monogram cookies or mini bubbles on guests’ seats might be the perfect refreshment for a mainland ceremony, for a Hawaii destination wedding consider a collapsible fan and mini water bottle instead. Those other cute and personal Etsy-style details can always be included in their welcome bags.
After that big kiss, your Hawaii wedding photographer is likely going to whisk you away for a series of romantic couples portraits against the tropical backdrops. Be sure to have something arranged to keep your guests entertained during this time.
A venue might have an open bar or offer a cocktail hour, but if your ceremony is on the beach you may have to get creative. Arrange an early arrival time with your reception venue or restaurant and allow your guests to go ahead while you happily pose in front of the sunset.
On the other hand, if you’ve hired beach entertainment, such as a musician, consider paying for an extra 1/2 hour and giving your guests the unforgettable memory of dancing to the ukulele with the hum of waves crashing in the background.
Everyone loves playing tourist from time to time, and your guests are no different! As you’re planning your trip and after-wedding bliss, take a little extra time to compile a list of fun things for guests to do while they’re in Hawaii. Make it pin-worthy and print it up on a cute little card that you can include in the welcome bags or attach it to the itinerary.
While you’re at it, try to also include touches of Hawaiian flair to your ceremony or reception. It can be as simple as drinking from fresh coconuts and passing out leis, or as elaborate as entertaining your party with the twisting flames of a Polynesian fire dancer!
Above all, remember that your guests are traveling a long way to support you and your special someone. Your Hawaii destination wedding will be one of the biggest days in your life, but it might also be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of your guests, so take a little extra time to show them how much they mean to you. Then go outside and do a couple of cartwheels… because you’re getting married in Hawaii!!

Saying “I do” in a Maui wedding dress under the Hawaiian sun is all the magic a girl could wish for! But pinch yourself … because this is your reality!
The big question has been popped. The location has been set…
And now you’re left wondering… what’s a girl to wear? Will a sweetheart neckline look okay on a rustic locale? Can the dress be short? Will a streamer or a train work on a sandy shore?
Yes to all of that!
Simple Maui Wedding has coordinated thousands of real Hawaiʻi ceremonies, and with help from our Maui wedding photographers, we’ve hand-selected our favorite cuts and drapes that are sure to complement any bride and any Maui venue. From jewel-encrusted gowns to silken simplicity, we’ve got your inspiration covered!
So grab a coconut water and scroll along with us as we detail our top 5 Maui wedding dress styles:
Are you planning a beach or venue wedding?
While the same dress can look gorgeous at both locations, understanding the “feeling” of your selected locale is a great place to start when drawing inspiration.
Is it a historic Maui wedding venue like the Olowalu Plantation House? Then perhaps a dramatic bustle or layers of elegant draping will make it feel as if you’ve transcended through time. Or maybe you’ve decided to say “I do” on the world-famous shores of Wailea? If so, then a tiered or fishtail dress that ripples like the rolling sea might be the perfect fit.
Taking the location into consideration is a sure-fire way to help you select the best gown possible for your special day.
The Season
While even the best meteorologists and weather apps can’t predict what Mother Nature will bring to your Special Day, knowing the wind and rain patterns of the season can help you get a vision of what to expect. Are sleeves a safe bet for that time of year? Or will strapless be more comfortable?
Although Hawaii isn’t nearly as susceptible to seasonal change as other locations, the time of year can bring subtle shifts in the weather and temperature as well as sunset and sunrise times.
But even if these differences are subtle, you can still indulge in a Hawaiian wedding that’s season-inspired! Who doesn’t love the dusky tones of a Fall wedding or the fresh blooms of a springtime affair? Just like the decor, your gown can evolve with the season. Try delicate pleats in Spring and a statement flounce for the Fall. Slip into an empire waist for the Summer or a chapel-length veil for the Winter.
Don’t hold back when it comes to making a dramatic statement with your gown!
The Time of Day
Solidifying the hour of the day will also help you prepare. Are you planning a morning or evening wedding? Both options are stunning times for saying “I do” in Hawaii, but each can give you drastically different backdrops. Do you need a dress that will embody the light and airy feel of the glittering morning ocean? Or do you need a gown that will pop against a firey Hawaiian sunset? Having a sense of time and temperature will help you narrow down your search.
Not taking the flow of the fabric into consideration can result in missed opportunities during the photoshoot.
A long, airy gown will almost become one with the breeze and cast a jaw-dropping silhouette against the tropical horizon. But while the weightlessness of this style allows it to flutter like angel wings, it might also make it hard to manage in the Hawaiian wind.
There are pros and cons to every fabric choice. So carefully consider the drape and weight of your material in order to select a gown that not only looks and feels great but also performs well at your selected locale.
While this may seem obvious, it’s endlessly important to take your own personality into account instead of rushing into the next bridal gown craze. What works for others might not work for you.
You are a radiant person, and you bring your own sense of style and charm to the occasion. That beauty within you has already captivated your partner, so let it captivate your guests!
Are you playful and outgoing? Then maybe some ruffles and bold colors will let your spunky self shine! Or maybe you’re more of a bookworm who loves fantasy? Then maybe it’s full lace sleeves that set your spirit aglow.
Your wedding photos will be treasured for a lifetime. Take this opportunity to capture your unique sense of style!
The truth is, it doesn’t really matter what you wear on your special day as long as you and your partner rejoice in your union. It’s your relationship that comes first, and your wedding dress is truly just another outfit.
But that said, what bride doesn’t want to feel gorgeous in an enchanting gown?!
We’ve titled this style “Boho-Magic” but it’s often referred to as Boho-Chic. Perfect for the artistic bride with a carefree spirit, this style blends in seamlessly with the tropical locales of Maui beaches. Boho-Chic showcases its gypsy origins with Indian-inspired floaty skirts, embroidery work, delicate beading, geometric lace patterns, and Roman-style drapery.
This versatile style is perfect for brides with a whimsical and spontaneous side but who still long for the historical beauty of a classic.
While you’re dreaming about your own Maui wedding dress, be sure to read these four tips:
With timeless grace and an elegant silhouette, this Maui wedding dress never goes out of style.
V-neck or sweetheart, princess seam or mermaid cut, it’s the simplicity of these gowns that make them stunning. Nothing fussy or overly complicated, just smooth lines and casual draping. The “Clean & Classic” style highlights the bride’s natural beauty and stands out against the rustic oceanfront.
This style is perfectly suited for the regal bride who balances princess candor with modern simplicity. Need proof? Keep scrolling!

Perhaps the most popular dress style for a Maui wedding, lace gowns perfectly marry the magic of childhood with luxurious high-end designs. The intricate weavings call back to the “original” white wedding dress of Queen Victoria in the mid-17th century.
That’s why we’ve dubbed this third style “Lace Princess.” While it may resemble “Boho-Magic” at first glance, these designs draw inspiration from European lacework with a focus on finely thatched florals and elegant patterns instead of the bold geometrics associated with Bohemian styles.
This bridal dress style is perfect for fairytale weddings with traditional details.

We’ve named this style “Tidal Angel” because it’s all about the way a gown shimmers and moves.
From dense ruffles to weightless chiffon, a Maui bridal dress that ripples like the tide is a sight to behold! And with accents of intricate lace or droplets of gemstones, these gowns not only reflect the beauty of the bride but the spirit of the sea.
Just add the tropical breeze and brilliant Hawaiian sun, and this style practically comes alive! This dress trend is best suited for the playful and spirited bride who loves a drop (or tidal wave) of extravagance.

Who says a wedding dress has to be white? Or long? Or a dress, for that matter? Even though we’ve titled this style “The Rule-Bender” there really are no hard-and-fast rules when it comes to wedding dress varieties. We’re obsessed with the delicate and girlish charm of these printed and embroidered patterns. What a way to embody your whimsical side!
