There might be a little voice in the back of your head asking if you should just coordinate your Maui wedding yourself while looking for the best possibilities. Dream wedding coordination is all about the easy breezy, right? After all, DIY-ing may be quite fulfilling. However, is it a good idea (and realistic) to move the self-doing out of the craft zone and into the realm of major life events? Our Maui wedding planners make your big day and the whole process seamless and dreamy.
If you are absolutely amazing at organizing and keeping names, emails, and phone numbers from multiple people straight to make sure they all show up on time for a 1 to 2-hour window — Or are you the type of person who wouldn’t hire a contractor to manage your construction project? Then DIY-ing your wedding coordination might be right up your alley. The outcome you get is all up to how well ‘YOU” manage all the moving pieces. Is it really worth the risk and worry? Your dream wedding day should be stress-free and completely all about the commitment you and your partner are about to make.

However…
The Maui wedding planning process is an extremely time-consuming endeavor. It can take as much time as a full-time job. You will be forever grateful to not have to worry about anything before your big day – trust us!
That’s not to say it’s impossible to DIY… but planning a wedding on Maui is a lot different than organizing a ceremony back home. Your best friend may not be the person you want to put under so much pressure either! You’ll be dealing with wedding vendors you know little about and making important decisions about places you’ve never seen in person. And you on your wedding, wouldn’t you want your focus to be on your partner rather than the minor details of your destination wedding?
Even if you are able to complete the paperwork while on vacation in Hawaii, carefully consider whether you really need to take time away from relaxing and enjoying your trip with your loved ones. You’ll have to wait until the very last minute to finalize the details, respond to emails, and locate the numerous items needed to put together your stress-free dream Maui wedding.
Keep in mind that:
If you’re set on DIYing your Big Day, then follow along with us as we help you detail out the steps involved in planning your perfect dream wedding in Hawaii.

This is probably the most important element of DIY wedding planning.
We utilize a wide range of venues to meet and surpass the needs of any destination wedding in Hawaii. Our Maui wedding coordinators have spent years compiling a list of reputable locations and stunning beaches on our beautiful island, but it took them hundreds of hours of study and on-site visits. And they have developed solid and trusting relationships with our wedding venues over the years. Booking a destination is probably possible, but bear in mind that web pictures can be outdated. Our excellent planners will inform you of any alterations, such as neighboring construction sites, beach closures, or other information. Their years of experience are invaluable! As you can see it’s a whole planning process for your special day just to research what you’re looking to book!
If you plan on doing it yourself, then the first thing you need to consider is what location type you’d prefer: a venue or a beach?
There is one caveat to planning your own destination wedding; oftentimes, venues won’t work with clients if they don’t have a planner. Ceremonies and receptions can turn into total chaos without a conductor at the helm to make sure everything goes to plan. We have handpicked the best venue weddings in Hawaii from luxury resorts like the Four Seasons to boutique hotels like Hotel Wailea. Communication between you and the venue through the whole process is critical if they are open to working with a DIY planner. However, there is a handful that will communicate with DIY planners, you’ll just have to spend extra time shopping around as you make note of the following considerations:

Our expert wedding coordination team know all the ins and outs of Hawaii beach weddings and Maui elopements. Almost all beaches in the state are open to the public and that means they’re subject to a long list of regulations and restrictions. If anyone’s a pro on this topic, we are! We know how to ensure an officer isn’t going to tap you on the shoulder as you’re saying “I do’ and ask for your wedding permit. Talk about a wedding crasher!
We also have the ability to make split-second decisions on your wedding day based on factors such as the weather, location, crowd size, wind, and even your guests. There are many details to consider while planning a beach wedding on the beautiful island of Maui, whether you’re merely eloping to Maui or inviting 30 guests. Our wedding planning staff are experts on the island, different beaches throughout the season, and know the best locations that suit such a celebration like these iconic beaches on the North Shore and South Side. Having said that, if you decide to DIY, start by taking into account are few of the factors listed below:

You’ll need to vet all the wedding vendors you’re planning on hiring, including your minister. Research multiple Maui ministers and browse their reviews to see if they’re a good match for you. Do they provide a quality ceremony? Do you know anyone who’s worked with them before? It’s important to figure out who this person is and how they’ll perform the ceremony. We work with many of the same ministers over and over because we know they’re passionate and trustworthy. It makes the whole process so much more seamless on your big day when you can trust your minister and that they love, love!

There’s a reason why they say a picture is worth a thousand words. High-quality Maui wedding photography is irreplaceable. No matter how beautiful your memories are, if they’re not captured behind a lens they’ll eventually fade with time. Getting married is one of life’s biggest moments, you don’t want to miss out on a single second of it. Without a doubt, you will want to relive this moment and share it with those who couldn’t make it. We work exclusively with our highly-reviewed sister company, Karma Hill Photography, which means our Maui wedding coordinators and the KHP photographers work in tandem to seamlessly capture all of the most unforgettable moments, from the first look to the posed portraits. Besides your love, your Maui wedding photography will continue to live on far past your wedding day!

Just as with everything on this list for your wedding day, finding a Maui florist begins with research. You’ll want to contact at least 3 wedding vendors and ask for images of the bouquets they offer as well as a list of price points. Many of the brides we work with request custom bouquets that our hand-selected florists can artfully match. If you’d like to add this personalized touch, reach out to your florist with photos of your desired bouquet. If it’s possible for them to create, make notes of any upcharges or additional fees.

If you’re not working with a Maui wedding coordinator for your Maui wedding or Maui elopement for your big day, then finding a quality musician on the island can be tricky. Many local professionals find work via Facebook or word of mouth, so our advice is to check multiple social media sites as well as Craigslist, refreshing often. Keep in mind that separating talented musicians from those just starting out is crucial. Be sure to request a sample of their LIVE work to ensure quality and only seek out musicians with reviews from previous clients. All of the musicians we hire are well-established and have built a portfolio of quality performances and punctuality.
If you’re not an accountant by day, paying all of your vendors on time/correctly might be difficult to juggle. Especially if you are off galavanting on your honeymoon! Some vendors may require partial payment upfront, others will want it in full, while some might send you an invoice weeks after providing their service. Using a wedding planner means you’ll be able to pay us in your most convenient method, and we’ll pay the wedding vendors. A stress-free solution to any sticky financial situations that could arise! We use a system designed specifically to sort out vendor fees and keep track of any upcharges to ensure you’re not overcharged or hit with unnecessary late fees. If you plan on DIYing your Maui wedding coordination yourself, then consider a quality bookkeeping program that will help you manage the finances, or hopefully, you are good with Excel. It can be quite the process if you’re not good with numbers and tracking invoices, so they better you can be organized throughout the planning process, the better. Feeling stress-free about payments going through and sent is not a detail you want to worry about on your wedding day!
You might be thinking, “This is so much work! Can I do all of this?” Well, if you’re an excellent planner, you might be the rare personality type that CAN pull off a beautiful DIY wedding. To give you an example of what that entails, we combed over our own high standards for our day of wedding coordinators on Maui and composed this checklist from the attributes they have in common.
Even if you are all of these things, do you really want to be worrying out these details on your wedding day? Is it worth it?

To be honest, coordinating your own Maui wedding isn’t feasible for most people. A wedding planner will help you with the finer details and numbers, which is why our Maui wedding packages make such a no-brainer and affordable option. We’ll ensure deliveries arrive on time, and handle payments so you can manage them in one easy way. Our coordinators will take care of all the last-minute tasks, so you can just enjoy your vacation and spend time with your guests before the wedding.
Maui wedding coordination takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Most of the time, our clients only know a fraction of what we’re doing because we want their Hawaii wedding experience to be carefree. This gives our couples time to relax and indulge with their friends and family. We’re the ones who will break a sweat.
It has taken our company over 13 years to perfect wedding coordination in Maui. Using Simple Maui Wedding gives you instant access to reliable, thoroughly vetted vendors and true professionals. We are forever grateful for an amazing staff that has completed thousands of weddings and has seen nearly every situation. A vast list of wedding industry contacts on every side of the island, so if something goes sideways behind the scenes, we know who to call and fix it at a minute’s notice. Every one of our staff and vendors thinks on their feet and creates solutions to any situation your special day may throw at us. We love the challenge.
To put it another way, being a Maui wedding coordinator reminds us of this famous anecdote:
A woman approached Picasso in a restaurant, asked him to scribble something on a napkin, and said she would be happy to pay whatever he felt it was worth. Picasso complied and then said, “That will be $10,000.”
“But you did that in thirty seconds,” the astonished woman replied.
“No,” Picasso said. “It has taken me forty years to do that.”

At Simple Maui Wedding, we’ll plan your beautiful ceremony, but we want you to have the best experience, from getting ready to the reception! We’ve put together some of our top Maui wedding reception venues to help you plan your after-party: whether you’d prefer a romantic table for two or a large venue for all your friends and family to dance the night away, Maui has some of the world’s most beautiful options!
Follow along with us as we detail our top Maui wedding reception venues!
Located in the heart of Wailea and just steps from the shores of Polo Beach, the Fairmont Kea Lani offers luxurious accommodations and world-renowned dining. Two of our favorite Maui wedding reception venues are located on the grounds of this resort: Ko Restaurant and Nick’s Fishmarket. Both restaurants offer tropical atmospheres and unbeatable cuisine.

From their website
“Fairmont Kea Lani’s signature restaurant Kō features award-winning cuisine inspired by the vast collection of ethnicities brought together during Maui’s sugarcane plantation era. Taste generations of local cuisine deeply rooted in the island’s culture and history. With over 90% of fish, beef, and produce sourced locally, the flavors are as authentic as they are sustainable.”
Located in the Fairmont Kea Lani, this restaurant sits near Polo Beach and is only a short drive away from any of our South Maui Beaches.
You can choose to either dine within the restaurant for smaller tables or book a private, intimate location surrounded by tropical palm trees, exotic flowers, and flickering torches.
With their intuitive “group dining menus,” planning a reception in Maui has never been easier…
You can add beautiful centerpieces to your Maui wedding floral order to bring an elegant personal touch to the decor of your table.

From their website
“Nick’s Fishmarket blends unique island tastes with a beautiful atmosphere to create a dining experience like to no other in South Maui.”
Nick’s Fishmarket is also situated in the beautiful Fairmont Kea Lani resort in Wailea. The name says it all: their cuisine is famous for its upscale, seafood driven menu, but they do offer meats and vegetarian dishes as well.
They can accommodate an intimate party of 2 at a table overlooking the resort OR they have a private dining room for larger parties that can be decorated however you’d like.
Speaker systems are restricted out of respect to other restaurant guests, but you can have a musician, a small hula show, or even a romantic first dance as husband and wife!
To give it a personal touch, you could add a couple of centerpieces to your flower order or work with our florist to set up the reception decor of your dreams.
Gannon’s Restaurant is one of our favorite venues for Maui weddings. With sweeping panoramic ocean views and spectacular sunsets, Gannon’s is the perfect spot to say “I do” and then party the night away. The grounds are extensive, which means plenty of location options for your Maui reception.
From their website
“Voted one of the Top 100 Best Outdoor Dining Restaurants in America, Gannon’s Restaurant in Wailea is a celebration of the classic dishes for which Chef Beverly Gannon is best known from her award-winning Maui restaurants (Hali’imaile General Store and the former Joe’s Bar & Grill) and contemporary dishes inspired by the fresh local ingredients of Hawaii.”

Gannon’s Lower Lawn is a great option for larger receptions on Maui with a little more focus on the guests’ experience. This reception spot is just off of the restaurant, so it’s private enough that you won’t get other restaurant-goers walking through.
What we love about this location is that it can have the look & feel of a traditional reception (with custom table layouts, a dance floor, and your own bar), but it’s still simple and budget-friendly like a restaurant reception!
It sits right above the ceremony lawn, so if you’re having a Gannon’s Grassy Knoll wedding ceremony, your guests can head right up to the reception while you venture to the beach for sunset newly-wed portraits.
They allow a DJ and dancing at this venue, and they also have an in-house staff that will help you plan the menu, bar, and dancing.

This area is used as a rain backup if you have a wedding planned at Gannon’s. The staff will prepare the area so you have a lovely ceremony set up that they can quickly flip into a reception.
Even though it’s a backup option, it’s still beautiful, lively, and semi-private. There’s enough room for dinner and dancing, and you’ll still be away from the rest of the restaurant.
If it’s not too windy, then you can overflow onto the patio where there are illuminated Palm Trees and a tropical pond.
Gannon’s indoor reception features the same delicious menu and decor options as their outdoor location.

You don’t have to book a large reception to enjoy the fabulous food and ambiance of Gannon’s. Their Upper Pond and Lower Pond (see photos above) offer tables on the sweeping terrace of their restaurant that will make your smaller group feel just as special.
You can have a cake cutting and a set menu just like a full reception, and enjoy the beautiful grounds that the golf course offers.
See below for another small table setup at Gannon’s Upper Pond location.

Voted “Top 21 Most Romantic Hotels in the World” by Conde Nast Traveller and “100 Best Hotels in the World” by Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, the Hotel Wailea is more of an oasis than a hotel, and their Maui wedding receptions venues certainly follow suit.

From their website
“The grand Anuhea Ballroom, with its cathedral ceilings, rich hardwood floors, and soaring windowed walls is spectacular. Celebrate your event surrounded by cascading waterfalls on one side and dramatic sunset views across the ocean on the other.”
This space is simply stunning. For a 100% private experience in a hall fit for royalty, there’s no better Maui wedding reception venue than the Anuhea Ballroom in Hotel Wailea.
The hotel staff will expertly deck this elegant hall to accommodate your wedding party and decor. Although the ballroom is more intricate & expensive than their restaurant space (see below), it will allow more customizations, like entertainment, full privacy, and more menu options.

From their website
“Discover the flavors of the islands in a traditional bistro setting with sweeping views of three Hawaiian Islands. The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea showcases its artistry with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from farmers and fishers throughout the region.”
Voted “Top 10 Restaurants in Maui,” this gorgeous Maui wedding reception venue features exquisite cuisine and sweeping panoramic views. You can enjoy the amazing food of The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea in a semi-private outdoor garden setting.
This intimate space is perfect for a quick first dance and quiet enough for a toast.
The Four Seasons in Wailea, Maui is the epitome of high-end luxury. If you love the resort feel, with endless details and refined decor, then this is the venue for you. Situated in the heart of Wailea with an expansive view of the coastline, The Four Seasons Maui is an award-winning resort designed around elegance and luxury with a splash of tropical fun.

If you select this breezy outdoor Maui wedding reception venue, you’ll have views of the resorts fountains and swaying palms. The hotel will do the catering for your meal and the staff will be available to help with decorations and planning.
From their website
“At Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, our golden sands are lined by tropical greenery, towering palm trees and the clear blue waves of the Pacific, creating a picture-perfect setting for one of the most important moments of your life.”

This Maui reception venue at the Four Seasons is intimate and casual, while perfectly melding upscale contemporary with rustic beach vibes. You’ll overlook the ocean as you dine at a private table with a custom menu created by their expert chefs. This locale is one of our personal favorites for small receptions — even the founders of Simple Maui Wedding, Karma & Steve Hill, selected it to celebrate their vow renewal! Check out their sweet photos above.
The Four Seasons also has other lovely lawns to choose from. If a restaurant setting is preferred, this venue has several upscale restaurants such as Spago, Ferraro’s, and Duo to choose from.

From their website
“The 1,500 square foot chapel is a stunning canvas for your ceremony or special event. Your guests will enter through grand French doors to the open room and elevated wooden platform. If you are using The Steeple House for a special event, the altar can serve many entertainment purposes.”
Built in the 1950s, The Steeple House is in the beautiful area of Kapalua, close to Ironwoods Beach and the Ritz Carlton.
This Maui wedding reception venue offers a lovely indoor setting where you can create a custom experience. The venue partners with Celebrations Catering, who can help with food, staffing, rentals, and more.
You can also rent their outdoor lawn for a reception under a tent.
We plan ceremonies here as well, so it’s a great option if you want to keep your ceremony and reception in one place.
Planning on a beach wedding in Hawaii? Or just hoping to elope on the world’s most romantic sandy venue? We’re here to help make your dreams come true!

From their website
“Located at perhaps the most beautiful spot on earth, Merriman’s Kapalua serves the freshest Hawaiian Regional Cuisine with their “Farm to Table” concept. Enjoy year-round sunsets from the dining room or while enjoying a glass of wine on the outdoor lanai.
View spectacular sunsets as you dine at the Merriman’s and indulge in live music during your Maui wedding reception. Their menu features an extensive wine list with numerous specialty cocktails.
You can buy out the entire venue, have a private table on the patio, or simply enjoy a romantic table for two in the restaurant. The Merriman’s Kapalua can accommodate any guest count.

From their website
“Located in the clubhouse of the Plantation Course, the Plantation House Restaurant melds award-winning Hawaiian-Mediterranean cuisine with gracious Hawaiian hospitality. From its unique vantage point on Kapalua’s Plantation Golf Course, the elegant dining room offers panoramic ocean views and breathtaking sunsets.”

Just because you’re saying “I do” in paradise, doesn’t automatically mean your guests are going to have a wonderful time. For many, this might be their first trip to Hawaii and they’re anxious about what to expect. For others, budget concerns may be secretly looming behind their enthusiastic congratulations.
So how do you ensure your friends and family truly enjoy the occasion? It all starts in the planning stage! Scroll on for 8 easy ways to make your guests happy at your Hawaii destination wedding!
First things first, hire a local wedding planner. While some out-of-state companies will try to coordinate your Hawaii wedding remotely, the overall experience is sure to be distant and possibly nerve-wracking. Hiring someone who lives in Hawaii cuts out the middleman and allows you an opportunity for a real human-to-human connection.

A Hawaiian wedding planner will not only take better care of you, but they’re experts on the locale and have amazing connections. A local planner will help you make the best decisions to ensure your guests are happy and satisfied.
Just take these words from Miranda L: “Planning a beach wedding from out of state can be stressful but Simple Maui Wedding made everything so easy. They answered every question or concern I had, they responded so fast to all my emails. It could not have been more perfect.”
Hawaii hotels are not cheap. As a bride or groom, opting for the highest price tag makes sense–it’s your Big Day and you deserve the best money can buy! But your guests might already be cracking into their piggy banks just to afford the plane tickets. So research ahead of time or ask your wedding planner for a list of affordable lodging in the area. If you’ve hired locally, your wedding planner will be more than familiar with the town and able to give you the insider scoop.
If you are looking to trim costs, we recommend looking into condos in the area. Most are much more affordable than the average hotel and feature kitchen units, which means big savings on food costs! For a family of 4, why spend $100 + per day on a hotel breakfast (not including tip), when you can make it in your condo for less than $25?
Your guests’ experience can be dramatically different depending on the location and time of day. For instance, with Hawaii beach weddings, the guest count is legally restricted to 30, and items that need to be stuck into the sand (like chairs or arches) are also prohibited. Beach access can also pose a problem for those who are movement-restricted or elderly.
Rain is also common in Hawaii… While they might not boast sandy shores, most venues in Hawaii have an indoor option, ample parking, and feature gorgeous views. A wedding venue can ensure rain doesn’t affect your Big Day, and that may help you sleep better at night knowing you thought of everything. Also, if you plan your timing accordingly, you can usually get some beach photos even if your venue isn’t on the beach.

Ask your wedding planner for the pros and cons of each locale so you can determine a spot that’s still a dream-worthy place to say “I do” but is also comfortable for every guest.
Doing so made a big difference for Nikki K: “I love that Simple Maui Wedding gave suggestions and were honest when the location we wanted was under construction and wouldn’t be as pretty.”
Things happen, and sometimes destination weddings in Hawaii need to be postponed or rescheduled (just look at what happened with COVID-19). But a global pandemic aside, traveling is never without risks, and flight insurance provides that extra bit of cushion if the unforeseen happens. The last thing you or your guests want during a trip to Hawaii is to worry about a flight cancelation or lost luggage.
Hawaii has a ton of stunning days with sunshine and blue skies…. Which means it can get HOT! And humid and windy. So let your guests know ahead of time about the weather basics.
Have them bring a stylish hat for the occasion, put on sunscreen an hour before, and opt for an updo in case of wind. You should also inform women in your party that fixing a hairstyle can be difficult in the humid Hawaiian weather. Suggest they schedule in at least 30 extra minutes for hair and beauty prep.
If your ceremony is taking place on the beach, your guests will also need a heads up about the possibility of rain. And don’t forget to let them know what kind of shoes are best for the sandy shore: nothing beats sandals, slippers, or bare feet. You could also make a cute little basket like this one!

While monogram cookies or mini bubbles on guests’ seats might be the perfect refreshment for a mainland ceremony, for a Hawaii destination wedding consider a collapsible fan and mini water bottle instead. Those other cute and personal Etsy-style details can always be included in their welcome bags.
After that big kiss, your Hawaii wedding photographer is likely going to whisk you away for a series of romantic couples portraits against the tropical backdrops. Be sure to have something arranged to keep your guests entertained during this time.
A venue might have an open bar or offer a cocktail hour, but if your ceremony is on the beach you may have to get creative. Arrange an early arrival time with your reception venue or restaurant and allow your guests to go ahead while you happily pose in front of the sunset.
On the other hand, if you’ve hired beach entertainment, such as a musician, consider paying for an extra 1/2 hour and giving your guests the unforgettable memory of dancing to the ukulele with the hum of waves crashing in the background.

Everyone loves playing tourist from time to time, and your guests are no different! As you’re planning your trip and after-wedding bliss, take a little extra time to compile a list of fun things for guests to do while they’re in Hawaii. Make it pin-worthy and print it up on a cute little card that you can include in the welcome bags or attach it to the itinerary.
While you’re at it, try to also include touches of Hawaiian flair to your ceremony or reception. It can be as simple as drinking from fresh coconuts and passing out leis, or as elaborate as entertaining your party with the twisting flames of a Polynesian fire dancer!

Above all, remember that your guests are traveling a long way to support you and your special someone. Your Hawaii destination wedding will be one of the biggest days in your life, but it might also be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of your guests, so take a little extra time to show them how much they mean to you. Then go outside and do a couple of cartwheels… because you’re getting married in Hawaii!!

Saying “I do” in a Maui wedding dress under the Hawaiian sun is all the magic a girl could wish for! But pinch yourself … because this is your reality!
The big question has been popped. The location has been set…
And now you’re left wondering… what’s a girl to wear? Will a sweetheart neckline look okay on a rustic locale? Can the dress be short? Will a streamer or a train work on a sandy shore?
Yes to all of that!
Simple Maui Wedding has coordinated thousands of real Hawaiʻi ceremonies, and with help from our Maui wedding photographers, we’ve hand-selected our favorite cuts and drapes that are sure to complement any bride and any Maui venue. From jewel-encrusted gowns to silken simplicity, we’ve got your inspiration covered!
So grab a coconut water and scroll along with us as we detail our top 5 Maui wedding dress styles:
Are you planning a beach or venue wedding?
While the same dress can look gorgeous at both locations, understanding the “feeling” of your selected locale is a great place to start when drawing inspiration.
Is it a historic Maui wedding venue like the Olowalu Plantation House? Then perhaps a dramatic bustle or layers of elegant draping will make it feel as if you’ve transcended through time. Or maybe you’ve decided to say “I do” on the world-famous shores of Wailea? If so, then a tiered or fishtail dress that ripples like the rolling sea might be the perfect fit.
Taking the location into consideration is a sure-fire way to help you select the best gown possible for your special day.
The Season
While even the best meteorologists and weather apps can’t predict what Mother Nature will bring to your Special Day, knowing the wind and rain patterns of the season can help you get a vision of what to expect. Are sleeves a safe bet for that time of year? Or will strapless be more comfortable?
Although Hawaii isn’t nearly as susceptible to seasonal change as other locations, the time of year can bring subtle shifts in the weather and temperature as well as sunset and sunrise times.
But even if these differences are subtle, you can still indulge in a Hawaiian wedding that’s season-inspired! Who doesn’t love the dusky tones of a Fall wedding or the fresh blooms of a springtime affair? Just like the decor, your gown can evolve with the season. Try delicate pleats in Spring and a statement flounce for the Fall. Slip into an empire waist for the Summer or a chapel-length veil for the Winter.
Don’t hold back when it comes to making a dramatic statement with your gown!
The Time of Day
Solidifying the hour of the day will also help you prepare. Are you planning a morning or evening wedding? Both options are stunning times for saying “I do” in Hawaii, but each can give you drastically different backdrops. Do you need a dress that will embody the light and airy feel of the glittering morning ocean? Or do you need a gown that will pop against a firey Hawaiian sunset? Having a sense of time and temperature will help you narrow down your search.
Not taking the flow of the fabric into consideration can result in missed opportunities during the photoshoot.
A long, airy gown will almost become one with the breeze and cast a jaw-dropping silhouette against the tropical horizon. But while the weightlessness of this style allows it to flutter like angel wings, it might also make it hard to manage in the Hawaiian wind.
There are pros and cons to every fabric choice. So carefully consider the drape and weight of your material in order to select a gown that not only looks and feels great but also performs well at your selected locale.
While this may seem obvious, it’s endlessly important to take your own personality into account instead of rushing into the next bridal gown craze. What works for others might not work for you.
You are a radiant person, and you bring your own sense of style and charm to the occasion. That beauty within you has already captivated your partner, so let it captivate your guests!
Are you playful and outgoing? Then maybe some ruffles and bold colors will let your spunky self shine! Or maybe you’re more of a bookworm who loves fantasy? Then maybe it’s full lace sleeves that set your spirit aglow.
Your wedding photos will be treasured for a lifetime. Take this opportunity to capture your unique sense of style!

The truth is, it doesn’t really matter what you wear on your special day as long as you and your partner rejoice in your union. It’s your relationship that comes first, and your wedding dress is truly just another outfit.
But that said, what bride doesn’t want to feel gorgeous in an enchanting gown?!
We’ve titled this style “Boho-Magic” but it’s often referred to as Boho-Chic. Perfect for the artistic bride with a carefree spirit, this style blends in seamlessly with the tropical locales of Maui beaches. Boho-Chic showcases its gypsy origins with Indian-inspired floaty skirts, embroidery work, delicate beading, geometric lace patterns, and Roman-style drapery.
This versatile style is perfect for brides with a whimsical and spontaneous side but who still long for the historical beauty of a classic.

While you’re dreaming about your own Maui wedding dress, be sure to read these four tips:

With timeless grace and an elegant silhouette, this Maui wedding dress never goes out of style.
V-neck or sweetheart, princess seam or mermaid cut, it’s the simplicity of these gowns that make them stunning. Nothing fussy or overly complicated, just smooth lines and casual draping. The “Clean & Classic” style highlights the bride’s natural beauty and stands out against the rustic oceanfront.

Perhaps the most popular dress style for a Maui wedding, lace gowns perfectly marry the magic of childhood with luxurious high-end designs. The intricate weavings call back to the “original” white wedding dress of Queen Victoria in the mid-17th century.
That’s why we’ve dubbed this third style “Lace Princess.” While it may resemble “Boho-Magic” at first glance, these designs draw inspiration from European lacework with a focus on finely thatched florals and elegant patterns instead of the bold geometrics associated with Bohemian styles.
This bridal dress style is perfect for fairytale weddings with traditional details.

We’ve named this style “Tidal Angel” because it’s all about the way a gown shimmers and moves.
From dense ruffles to weightless chiffon, a Maui bridal dress that ripples like the tide is a sight to behold! And with accents of intricate lace or droplets of gemstones, these gowns not only reflect the beauty of the bride but the spirit of the sea.
Just add the tropical breeze and brilliant Hawaiian sun, and this style practically comes alive! This dress trend is best suited for the playful and spirited bride who loves a drop (or tidal wave) of extravagance.

Planning your own Hawaii wedding? Our Maui wedding coordinators and wedding planners on Oahu are here to help!

Who says a wedding dress has to be white? Or long? Or a dress, for that matter? Even though we’ve titled this style “The Rule-Bender” there really are no hard-and-fast rules when it comes to wedding dress varieties. If your gown fills you with joy, your radiance will outshine even the most shimmery of conventional fabrics!
So throw caution to the tropical breeze and be bold, be playful, and most importantly, be yourself. You’re in Hawaii… you’re getting married to the person of your dreams… what better time to make a statement and have fun!
We’ve sorted this style into 3 “Rule-Bending” cornerstones: Patters, Hems, and Hues. Tryout patterns that show off your charm, shorten those hems so you can kick up the sand, or dip yourself in hues that will make the traditional white dress blush.
We’re obsessed with the delicate and girlish charm of these printed and embroidered patterns. What a way to embody your whimsical side!

You’ll be kicking up sand on your Special Day, so don’t be afraid to raise that hem and go barefoot to show off your spunk! Check out these adorable rule-benders!

If you love the rule-bender style as much as we do, then you’re sure to fall in love with these colorful brides! A surprising hue makes an impression while showcasing your unique personality!

Whether you decide to have your gown custom-designed or choose to alter a family heirloom, as long as you love your wedding dress, it’s sure to make a splash on every Maui beach wedding location!
The hardest search is over… you’ve already found “The One”! And your dream gown is sure to be next… Happy dress hunting!

Having a Hawaii wedding offers endless beauty in itself, but adding a few personalized touches here and there can really highlight your unique love story on your Special Day. We cherish all the little additions our clients have brought to their ceremonies, so we’ve collected some of our favorite Maui destination wedding ideas to share on our blog!
If you’re looking for Hawaii wedding details, we’ve got plenty of ideas and a ton of inspiration from our clients that we LOVE!
The moments before you say “I do” are destined to become sweet and special memories of your Big Day. Our sister company, Karma Hill Photography, specializes in capturing the details that showcase your personality. From custom bridal robes and t-shirts to personalized hangers, these items make for great photographs to add to your wedding collection!

Another piece that deserves some attention are all the details that shimmer and shine! Of course, the wedding rings are a must, but you put time and thought into earrings and necklaces and everything in between, so why shouldn’t they be memorialized?

You can also bring those gorgeous rings and personalized ring boxes to the beach!! You don’t have to have “getting-ready” coverage to get those sentimental items photographed! Soft white sand and dark rugged lava rocks make for a gorgeous textured background for your Hawaii wedding details!

These one-of-a-kind trinkets are so personal and special, and we absolutely ADORE them! Bouquet charms frame and display the dearest things to your heart, sometimes remembering a loved one and sometimes just sharing your personal journey. Whatever they represent, we want you to know that we treasure them too. We can help you select a custom bouquet with colors and blooms that emphasize the story behind your charms, and the Karma Hill Photography team will take special care to capture every sweet frame, so you can forever cherish these lovely wedding day additions.

These words come straight from the heart!! We love to hear the special sentiments you share on your Big Day, sometimes we even shed a tear or two. Although reading from cellphones definitely does the trick, we adore these special little booklets for sharing your vows. These are perfect Hawaii wedding details to be kept forever and cherished for generations!

These mementos aren’t for everyone, especially if you’re eloping or just having a few guests. But if you do make them, bring them!! We were invited to your wedding, so we need to see all that loveliness that you put so much time and effort into creating! These will keep well in your memory box along with your vow booklets, and will make great additions to your photo collection.

The beach is the most beautiful backdrop you could ask for, but adding a little decor never hurts! One of our favorite Maui destination wedding ideas is to bring fun little (State-approved) details to decorate the sand–or ask us how we can help spice things up a bit! We can add some flair to your beach wedding if you wish!! Ask us about our styled beach setup options!

Another great way to add some color and style to your wedding is with a unique arch! Each of our beautiful venues has the option to add a custom arch, and with vivid floral decor or greenery, you’ll have an “I do” backdrop that really pops! While beach ceremonies are always stunning, you have much more flexibility with the decor at a Maui wedding venue!

These little items aren’t always in the cards because you don’t really need them on the beach. We do love them though!! Your kicks really show off your personality. Whether they’re extravagant Badgley Mischka’s or your good ole’ cowboy boots, we want to see them! And our sister company wants to photograph them, of course!

These hidden gems add fabulous flair and we love to get surprise glimpses of them! While pineapples and blue stripes are perfect for the beach, you can’t ignore that sweet little sloth pictured here! Is it just us, or does everyone want a baby sloth?? Having a special someone who’s not afraid to rock the sloth socks is the next best thing!

This one is immensely important! We all know it! While of course, the bride will be looking her best, we think it’s key to let the guys shine a little too with stylish Hawaii groom wedding attire! Let them bring in some personality with prints, whether it’s all over the outside, tucked inside the jacket, or on a tie or napkin in the pocket adorned by a charm! No matter what your personality is like, we want to embrace it!

Another great way to personalize the Groom Swag is to have embroidery done! This moment is so special and so memorable, and having that stamp of personalization really makes it official. After all, this isn’t just another suit, it’s your wedding gear.

I mean, you’re getting married in Hawaii right? So shout it from the rooftops! It might be overused, but that is never going to stop us from using it! You can bring your own personalized Just Maui’d sign with you OR, even better, you can rent our custom circular Just Maui’d sign (pictured in the top right corner here) and save some room in your luggage for memorabilia! Ask your coordinator for details!

Other signage is gorgeous and fitting! And remember, you don’t have to have a reception to have a sign! Just check out the brilliant ways signs were used in the weddings below! One was set up on the beach to welcome guests, and one was even used as a fabulous reminder to the Groom: the little guy in the bottom left holds a sign that reads, “Daddy, Are You Ready? Here Comes Mommy!” It doesn’t get much sweeter than that!

These classic add-ons are another great way to bring a personal touch to your wedding day. Whether you’re having a cake cutting at your reception, or adding our “cake-package” option on the beach, a cake topper or personalized cake slicer is always welcome!

From simple to luxurious, we have a plan for you.
These guest-favorites aren’t always something you’ll need to think about because you may be escaping the wedding planning at home and eloping!! If you do have guests though, a Hawaiian themed favor is fun and special! You could also give a sweet gift to your life partner. Who says only the guests get to indulge in the offerings? Surprising your special someone with personalized letters or sweet mementos will add a touch of spontaneity to your Big Day.

There are so many Maui destination wedding ideas! As long as you incorporate details that you love, the options are limitless.
Here are a few other great concepts that we’ve seen recently: a Pineapple themed guest frame, a beautiful flower girl basket, a book celebrating the life of a lost family member who is with you in spirit on your wedding day, a personal hankie for Dad (tear!), and a custom cake platter with a beautiful quote and your wedding date! The possibilities are endless!! What Hawaii wedding details will you weave into your Big Day?

At Simple Maui Wedding, we have the pleasure meet people from all walks of life! And we are passionate about what what we do from coordinating the little details to finally meeting our couples in person. We strive to give our best advice and answer every question or concern, no matter how small. Regardless if our couple has been to Hawaii or not, one commonly asked question we get, especially from couples planning a beach wedding, is what to wear: Is a suit too hot? Should we wear an aloha print? Is a veil too elaborate?
Firstly, there’s really no “wrong” way to go, so do what makes you comfortable and happy–Secondly, to give you some inspiration (and also 100% on-point), we thumbed through our albums and collected our 10 most memorable Maui wedding styles! What we love about each couple is their personalities and personal style shine bright, and they aren’t afraid to dress up and stand out on their big day!
Keep reading to see all the possibilities from beach glam to bohemian beauties… we love them all! At the end of the day, whatever you choose, your beach wedding attire should make you feel and look your best.

Nami & Gustavo ~ Southside Beach
Why we love it: Their wedding attire is perfectly balanced between laid-back and bohemian elegance. Nami’s off-the-shoulder dress was exquisite, with delicate beading and lace details. The off-the-shoulder dress felt beachy yet sophisticated. Gustovo’s linen suit complemented the beach color palette creating an easy yet sharp look.

Kristina & Robert ~ Ironwoods
Why we love it: Kristina and Robert brought the glamour to the beach! Her embellished lace gown was stunning, yet it relaxed with her natural down hair and attached train. Robert looks dapper and sharp in his fitted black suit. It matched the elegance of her gown perfectly, not too much or not enough, but just right. Classic and timeless with a beachy flair!

Hannah & Justin ~ Southside Beach
Why we love it: Hannah’s ankle-length lacey dress brings a laid-back, playful vibe that is flirty and fun for a beach wedding! And Justin looks effortlessly casual cool with rolled-up pants, just in case of a splash or two. He still kept it looking put together yet casual by tucking in his shirt with a belt. A beach wedding doesn’t need to be sloppy; it can still look easy and breezy yet beautiful like these two!

Kelsey & Wyatt ~ Gannon’s Lower Knoll
Why we love it: Kelsy didn’t shy away from a full A-line gown for her Hawaii wedding. Her chic and classic bridal style had major princess vibes. Wyatt looked like her Prince Charming in his suit, but he kept it a little more laid back by skipping the tie.

Jamie & Jay ~ Southside Beach
Why we love it: Jay’s full-print suit was a bold choice, and we love risk-takers! These two are proof that even the most dressed-up groom won’t overpower his bride’s look. Jamie was radiant in her vintage gown with gold tones that perfectly complemented Jay’s suit.

Why we love it: Bryan’s light blue suit perfectly complements the turquoise waters and is a refreshing alternative to traditional navy. And his touch of pink matched her stunning blooms! The light linen suit was perfect for a tropical wedding, and the pop of color felt extra fun! Vanessa looked stunning in a deep V gown (with a pop of comfy sneakers!) Their beach wedding attire was the perfect choice for their big day!

Nimet & Nazim ~ 5 Palms
Why we love it: We don’t see many double-breasted jackets on grooms, and we think Nazim really pulled off the look! Instead of a tie, he wore a printed button-up for a relaxed and confident look.
Nimet was on the leading edge of the off-shoulder gown trend and really rocked the look! Off-shoulder gowns can be restricting if you hope to dance the night away at your wedding, but beach brides usually have simpler receptions planned so they can wear the style without worry. This couple toned down their Maui wedding styles by mixing hues of creams, icy blue, and ivory instead of matching everything to one shade of white. It kept their look more subtle.

Lindsay & Anthony ~ Rustic Ruins at Trinity By The Sea
Why we love it: Lindsay’s isn’t afraid of color, and her unique floral printed dress was refreshing to see! And it matched the vibrant tropical decor. Their beach wedding attire matched their fun-loving and playful personalities! Her pink bow was the cherry on top of her floral confection, and Anthony’s pink tie matched perfectly. We love a man who’s not afraid of pink!

Analie & Michael ~ Po’olenalena Beach
Why we love it: Analie and Michael went for full-on classic glam for their beach wedding. These two were classic glam for their beach wedding. Michael wore a sleek black tux with a bow tie, and Analie had a cathedral-length veil and flawless Hollywood waves. Her jeweled hairpiece added a little bit of luxe to the overall effect – gorgeous!

Audrey-Anna & Morgan ~ Southside Beach
Why we love it: Audrey-Anna’s stunning floral suit was one of a kind! It felt special and unique, complementing the tropical feeling of their big day. We never say no to more flowers! And Morgan looked like a glittering goddess in her deep V gown. Like these two, you can still showcase your personality and individual style on your wedding day! A perfect match…

Ted & Jeremy ~ Southside Beach
Why we love it: Ted and Jeremy kept it simple in solid suits and matching Maile leis. (Just be aware that it can be really hot on the beach in a suit!) But dressing up for your wedding is a way to signify how special the moment it is, so why not go all out! Ted and Jeremy’s suits fit perfectly, and the combination of navy & white ensured that they coordinated beautifully.
Getting to know our couples is just one highlight of our job as wedding planners! To our valued Simple Maui Wedding clientele,
As the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) remains a global concern, we want to assure you that our top priority continues to be the health and happiness of our clients and employees. We understand what a scary and sad time this is for our clients, and we are here for you. We feel heartbroken as well.
In order to ensure your health and wellbeing, we are following the recommendations of Governor Ige and Mayor Victorino and canceling all events for the next 30 days. However, we truly believe and are hopeful that this pandemic will be short-lived, so we are currently open and taking bookings for FUTURE dates.
If your wedding is between now and the end of April, we recommend rescheduling to sometime after 09/01/2020. This will ensure that we have enough availability, and airfare and hotels will likely be more affordable as well. All weddings that have been booked but need to be rescheduled due to COVID-19 will be guaranteed a price-lock for up to 2 years into the future, regardless of whether our package costs increase.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to know your new date to postpone; you can always let us know later!
Many of you have been proactive and have already arranged your busy schedules to postpone your wedding date. We encourage you to keep at it and to please continue to be patient with our team as we do our best to work with this incredibly complex situation. Things are changing day-to-day, and we will update available booking times as soon as we know more.
We also highly advise that you postpone your visit to the islands until Governor Ige greenlights travel. Tourist attractions, bars, restaurants, and many other areas have been closed, which means, unfortunately, a visit to Hawaii won’t be the fun vacation you had in mind. Postponing travel will also help keep our island community healthy, as all local COVID-19 cases have so far been tourism-related.
Lastly (but not least!), we want to assure you that this will pass, and one day soon, you will be standing beneath the warm tropical sun and saying “I do” to the love of your life.
We want nothing more than for you to have an amazing Maui wedding, and we can’t wait to be a part of it!

…But, until then, stay safe, stay strong, and stay healthy.
From all of us here at Simple Maui Wedding.

If you’re planning on saying “I do” on a white sandy shore, you may feel like you’re swimming in a wave of beach wedding bouquet options — ranging from the classic nosegay of roses to the internet craze of hot-glued seashells — Finding the perfect wedding bouquet can seem like an endless pursuit …
… Luckily, we’re here to help! Having serviced over 1,800 Maui weddings, we at Simple Maui Wedding are happy to share some of our favorite wedding bouquets from real weddings. As you seek out the perfect floral masterpiece we promise to steer you far away from those seashell-and-glue atrocities (Although they were pretty popular a few years ago).

The succulent is quickly becoming the latest beach bouquet must-have. With its voluptuous leaves and striking appearance, it’s little wonder why … If you’re searching for a touch of untamed, rugged beauty, then look no further than the hearty succulent!
Available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, the succulent is positively otherworldly, evoking fantasies of galaxies far away and jungles lost in time.
Succulents grow on every continent except Antarctica. And although they’re popularly misclassified as a type of cacti, the terms are not interchangeable.
While most cacti are indeed succulents, a significant amount of succulent plants are unrelated to cacti. This means most succulents don’t have needles–which is good news for those just-manicured bridal hands!

With roots spreading across the Mediterranean and Asia, the peony is an exquisite Eastern beauty. Because their peak season is in May, peonies are perfectly timed for an early summer beach wedding. But if your heart is set on tying the knot in the Winter or Fall … the garden rose makes for a modern frilly substitute.
Truly a maid-of-all-trades, the peony was once revered by Chinese diplomats for its medicinal properties and flavor. (Hmm … after-wedding snack, anyone?) In fact, the peony is so beloved in China it’s known as the “King of Flowers” and held the throne of the national flower until 1929.
Built like the fun-loving little sister of the dahlia, this charmer perfectly encapsulates the sunshiny vibes of a Hawaii beach wedding. The peony’s delicate yet complex layering of petals whimsically mirrors not only the flow of a wedding gown but also the waves of the sea.

Available from early spring to late autumn, these treasured blooms make the perfect beach wedding bouquet flower. Bursting in seascape hues from seafoam green to cerulean blue, the hydrangea will make a splash in any shoreside ceremony.
The Hydrangea is another popular bouquet bloom with origins in Asia. In today’s Japan, the small, star-shaped florets are brewed into a delicate tea and used to celebrate the birthday of Buddha.
As if all that’s not enough proof of this flower’s remarkable merits, the pink Hydrangea is quickly becoming an Eastern symbol of budding love. The spherical blooms are said to whisper, “You are the beat of my heart.” And the renowned florist, Tan Jun Yong, further mused over the pink hydrangea, saying, “The light delicate blush of the petals reminds me of a beating heart, while the size could only match the heart of the sender!”
We can hear you sighing over there … It’s okay, we’re sighing too.
With over 100 dainty flowers per stalk, this uniquely round beauty calls forth visions of globe sailing and ocean sprays. The rippling texture of the hydrangea stirs up memories of childhood wishing wells, casting fairy magic upon even the most sophisticated of beach weddings.

Planning on a beach wedding in Hawaii? Or just hoping to elope on the world’s most romantic sandy venue? We’re here to make your dreams come true!

The calla lily enfolds its velvety spathe around a yellow pistil, and the result is a trumpet of seemingly divine origins. Although it’s most commonly seen in hues of ivory, the calla lily is also available in the highly pigmented shades of mahogany, blush, Easter yellow, and sunset flame … not to mention black for all you posh trend-setters out there.
And because it’s cultivated to grow year-round, this bloom is a can-do for every chic and refined oceanside ceremony.
Originating in South Africa, the calla lily has been a European favorite since before the 1600s. Although technically not related to the lily species, this misnamed beauty has taken the world by storm and is now popularly considered to be the ultimate definition of elegance.
Like the rose, the symbolism of the calla lily is influenced by its coloring: white represents purity and faithfulness, pink represents fondness and admiration, purple represents passion, and yellow symbolizes thankfulness.

Available in pom-pom, pincushion, and starlike blooms. With a season ranging from late-summer through autumn and with hues from eggshell to chocolate, the dahlia brings an enchanting drop of Fall to any bridal bouquet.
The dahlia is a Mexican heartthrob worth swooning over. Originally cultivated by the Aztecs, and donning an endless abundance of petals, this versatile showstopper is a provocative beauty.

Long treasured for their feminine allure and pearlescent shimmer, orchids will bring a touch of the tropics to your floral bouquet. With over 28,000 different varieties, there’s sure to be an orchid type that will suit your venue and set your heart aglow. Not sure where to have your beach wedding? Check out our list of gorgeous Maui beach wedding locations.
Reminiscent of the heavenly Hawaiian rainbow, orchids bloom in every vivid color of the prism–from pistachio green to gradients of amethyst and cream, this exotic showstopper is sure to make a statement as you stroll down the sandy shore.
The delicate orchid is said to represent desire, virility, and beauty. In fact, it’s so intimately linked to romance, that the ancient Greeks dubbed it “orkhis,” which means … well, we’ll let you look that one up!

The fragrant eucalyptus perfumes the dreams of lovers. Bursting with the fresh and vibrant scents of crushed mint and upturned soil, and laced with subtle hints of just-picked lavender, eucalyptus sprigs are evocative bouquet inclusions that bring romance to the forefront.
Most species of eucalyptus are native to Australia and many can grow upwards of 200 feet!
Not only are the greens a favorite treat for adorable koala bears, but they’re also considered a sign of good fortune and positive outcomes. If a piece of eucalyptus bark is worn around the neck, then the wearer is said to bring good luck to whoever they encounter. You can’t go wrong with these special greens!

Curved into a perfect heart with a spike-shaped spadix at the center, the Anthurium has us dreaming of a young lover just pierced by Cupid’s arrow. Originating from South America and as glossy as can be, few flowers are as memorable as the lacy Anthurium.
Anthurium means “Tail Flower” in Greek, but this beauty also goes by “Lace Flower” and “Flamingo Flower.”
Native to South and Tropical America, Anthuriums grow in over 700 different varieties and bloom year-long. So, no matter what season you plan on having your beach wedding, the anthurium will be ready to make an impact!

Weaving in local foliage is a stylish and economical way to add a sense of place and culture to your Hawaiian destination wedding. From ferns and jade vines to the grand monstera and sacred Ti leaf, no beach bride is complete without a touch of tropical greenery.
Although the monstera leaf isn’t indigenous to Hawaii, its gorgeous jigsaw leaves can be spotted throughout the islands–keep an eye out for it during the spectacular drive to Hana!
Valued for their medicinal properties, some species of Hawaiian ferns have been alive and blooming for the last 1,000 years. Nope, that wasn’t a typo! Lace a couple into your bouquet, and you’ll quite literally be carrying a piece of the islands with you on your special day.

Proteas are available in many striking varieties, but few are as sensational as the king protea. Transcending time with its prehistoric beauty, this stately king is sure to draw the eye of every guest! That’s why this bloom is true to its name and reigns supreme on our list of top beach wedding bouquets!
The king protea symbolizes diversity and courage. With African origins, this mesmerizing titan now graces the slopes of every Hawaiian island and is quickly becoming a must-have for any beach wedding bouquet.
With a feather-soft belly cradled in lush peach and fuschia petals, the king protea is sure to take center stage. Including one of these royal blooms will give you a beach wedding bouquet that your guests won’t soon forget!

With the beautiful simplicity of a beach locale, our custom bouquet is an ideal way to bring in the colors you love and give the affair that personal touch.
Whether you’re looking for a dramatic collection of vibrant flowers to serve as a sharp pop of color against the scenery, or a softer blend of shades to complement the warm pastel hues of the tropical sunset, there’s sure to be a beach bouquet perfectly tailored to your style.
Come drop by our site for all your beach wedding in Maui inspiration! Or read our blog for intimate details on real Maui shoreline ceremonies.
Bouquets date back to Medieval times. To ensure the longevity of their love and to ward off evil spirits, the bride and groom often decked themselves in garlands of herbs and garlic (With the added bonus of masking that pungent scent of Medieval body odor!). Thankfully, the garlic is long gone! And today’s modern brides have the luxury of sophisticated blooms bursting with personality and delicate scents.
Ever wonder why the bride traditionally tosses these luscious floral blooms of eye-candy? Well, tucker down because we’ve got a story for you!
Back in the Medieval Ages, brides were considered lucky commodities and guests just couldn’t leave without having a piece of their own “good luck” charm … so, instead of saying their fond farewells after grabbing a piece of delectable red velvet and buttercream wedding cake, the guests of old snatched and tore at pieces of the bride instead–leaving her buzzed and blushing in all the wrong ways!
Until one fateful day, a witty young bride tossed her bouquet into her frothing swarm of admirers, tempting them into ripping at the petals for souvenirs while she and the groom dashed away to the safety of their wedding chambers. After which, the groom flung out his new wife’s garter to further satiate the crowd.
And while today the bride is still considered as lucky as can be, thankfully the times (AND guests!) have changed. So if you choose to toss that bodacious bouquet of yours, cast a glance around at your admiring guests and take heart in the fact that if you decide to ask for it back, you’ll surely end the night with your flowers (and yourself!) in one piece.
Legend has it, whoever catches the bride’s bouquet will be the next one walking down the aisle.
So anyone who wishes to tie the knot with a partner in the near future can stand behind the bride in hopes of catching the bouquet. Of course, to actually catch the bouquet, your guests will need some fairly deft “bouquet catching” (or snatching!) skills.
A basic bouquet will start at $300 and go up according to your specific flower choices and customizations. Styles that require more blooms, like a cascading bouquet, will generally cost more than the traditional nosegay choices.
Although they’re Hawaiian island classics, we don’t recommend the plumeria and hibiscus as part of a beach bouquet because they’re incredibly quick to wilt and brown once picked. And with the time spent traveling, performing the ceremony, and photographing those gorgeous sunset portraits, this means that both flowers are unsuited for beach wedding bouquets … the last thing you want is a bloom that checks-out for the night before you’ve even said: “I do.”

A Maui beach wedding is the ultimate ceremony location! The salty mist of the rolling sea, the white powdery sand, the kiss of the late-afternoon sun on your shoulders make for all the perfect ceremony elements. Hello paradise!
While the ocean provides a splash of the to your big day,Mother Nature can be wild and unpredictable; especially on an island! It takes a certain adventurous spirit to appreciate her exquisite beauty. Wind, tropical rainstorms, rougue waves, and all!
Some couples prefer a ceremony right by the water, even if its a public affair with limited control. Others prefer the privacy and predictability afforded by one of our gorgeous Maui wedding venues. Both options are romantic and highlight unique features of the island … but which one is right for you?

Since 2009, Simple Maui Wedding has serviced nearly 2000 wedding ceremonies, and we’ve learned how important it is to carefully consider the pros and cons of a beach wedding before making your final decision. Doing so will guarantee a happy day which celebrates you, your partner, and your love … because that’s truly what it’s all about!
If you’ve answered “yes” to all of these, then a Maui beach ceremony might be perfect for you! Follow along with us as we explore these four beach wedding mindset “Must-Haves” …
Ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 less than our venue ceremonies, a Maui beach wedding package is a simple yet stunning alternative. If you love the idea of keeping it easy and breezy, then let the tropical greenery and panoramic views do the decorating for you! This truly is a “must-have” because many decorative items are prohibited on Maui beaches. Saying “I do” on the beach might not be the ideal option if you had your heart set on white chairs and a ceremonial arch on the beach (or anything else that needs to be stuck into the sand).
There are, however, a few clever workarounds that we’re more than happy to provide. Standing in a personalized flower circle that matches your bouquet is a lovely and unique way to tie the knot. And our custom “Just Maui’d” sign adds that extra “postcard-worthy” flair to your pictures. Flower sconces are beautiful options that add an elegant and celebratory touch!
Lastly, think about personal elements you can bring to the ceremony! Our couples love getting creative by including touching details that make their day even more unique and personal…

Since the maxium guest limit set by state law is 30, by design a beach ceremony is bound to be inimate and simple. So if your dream wedding is just the two of you with your nearest and dearest by your side, then a sandy beach might just be the perfect location for you!
Because of the inimacy of a beach ceremony, your guests will be standing close by, ready to celebrate with warm hugs just moments following the sacred kiss. We love the charming chit-chat and laughter shared between guests and couples during the ceremony, but we recognize such intimacy and informality isn’t for everyone. If you love the idea of a small and close-knit ceremony, then read on for more mindset must-haves!

Nature is unpredicable. Be prepared that anything can happen during a beach wedding …
Does this include a breathtaking Hawaiian rainbow arching across the sky? Yes, they are the islands signature! But like the word implies – rain is apart of the picture! Having a beach wedding requires flexibility. We try our utmost to ensure that everything goes according to plan and that your Maui wedding is as stress-free and as you’ve imagiuned, but there are some natural forces outside of our control …

Given the enviromental conditions of being on an island, rain is always a possibility on Maui. Also, episodes of brush fires and close-calls with hurricanes are not unheard of either. Thankfully, our team is phenomenally dedicated and always up-to-date on potential curveballs. We keep a well-trained eye on the clouds and we’ve had great success pulling off emergency location swaps that take our couples from rain to shine. While we can never guarantee it will be sunny, if we believe the weather will be milder at another shoreside, we may advise you to make a last minute switch. This means that having flexibility could make the difference between rainbows and rain showers.

That said, there are rare occasions when the clouds are island-wide … and in these cases, we bring out the umbrellas and get ready to make a splash! If you’re unfamiliar with how charming and fun a rainy beach wedding can be, these photos say it all! There’s a reason why rain is considered a blessing in Hawaii…
Have questions about planning for the weather? Read our tips on preparing for a rainy beach wedding.
It’s not just rain that might require your flexibility, it could be anything from jellyfish warnings, highsurf advisories, to children’s birthday parties … or even things we haven’t yet experienced! Allowing and embracing change will help prepare you for big day with your partner, come what may … at the end of the day your love and committment is ultimately the only thing that really matters!

There’s nothing like the photo-bombing magic of humpback whales frolicking in the waterfront as you say “I do.” … But what about an elderly man in a speedo and cowboy hat frolicking in the waves while you exchange rings? Yes, we’ve seen it before! It’s these moments that truly require a “go-with-the-flow” attitude which an make or break your special day.
With the exception of a few government areas, all beaches in Hawaii are open to the public. This can mean anything from children and dogs to barbeques and loud music… and yes, even a speedo or two. And due to regulations, we’re unable to ask anyone to leave or move during our time on the beach. But luckily our all-star photo editing team is on the job! And with their magic editing wands (and hours of hard work), they make those beachgoers in fade (quite literally) into the background. Although, we can photoshop that puppy or beach birthday party out to an extent – if the beach is very crowded it can be too diffcult to erase everyone out! So to that we say – we’ll do our best and embrace it!

Here’s an example of their “Before & After” artistry:

*While our team is extremely talented, we can only guarantee complete removal of beachgoers at one of our specially selected beach locations.
A carefree attitude during these unexpected moments can make the difference between laughter and merriment or frowns and contempt. A difficult time parking can be viewed as an adventurous detour. A wave that splashes up to your knees becomes an embrace from the sea. A curious child venturing too close becomes a friendly face you won’t soon forget. We can always remove the sunbathers, but we can’t photoshop that enchanting twinkle into your eyes as you look at your partner, so let it shine!

It’s common for a bride or groom to have a to-do-list on their wedding day. While it can be a very effective strategy, it can also turn a day that should be bursting with happiness into just another chore to finish.
We’re here to get those chores done! After working with numerous wedding clients we know what works, and know what’s going to give you the best experience possible. Beach weddings are all about the individual moment. We go above and beyond to ensure that everything goes according to plan, but sometimes details need to be adjusted moment-by-moment…especially if they are at the beach.
Your ability to let go and trust in our many years of knowledge not only keeps the ceremony running as smoothly as possible, but also allows you to relax and indulge in your magical day. Things change, and that’s okay.
You may have a beautiful vision of a noon wedding on the beach. While we think this sounds lovely, we know from experience that the best time for a shoreline ceremony is during the early morning or late afternoon. Not only is the sun hot and harsh during the midday hours, but the lighting is also extremely difficult to photograph and unflattering. Shadows under the eyes and glistening foreheads along with sweaty unhappy guests are common occurrences for mid-day ceremonies. And no one wants that on their big day! We want you to feel and look your best on your big day, including as your guests!
So, trust us to be your guide! We’ll work with you to create a dream beach wedding that’s achievable, comfortable, and as magical as can be …

So after considering these factors you’ve made up your mind; you know that a beach wedding is perfect for you. Now what? First, let us say that we are SO happy for you! You’re one step closer to your dreamy beach wedding!
And now that you know what a beach wedding is truly like, take a moment to go over a few of our shoreline wedding tips:

Maybe you’ve decided that a beach wedding isn’t right for you. And that’s ok! Maybe you’d prefer a more structured venue wedding with an indoor option? That’s wonderful!
Maui Venue weddings can truly be the best of both worlds!Because after the ceremony (as long as weather and time permits), it’s often possible to travel down to the shoreline for some exquiste newlywed photos like the ones below!

So regardless if you decide to say “I do” at sunset to the sounds of the waves or on the terrace of an elengant venue, you can’t go wrong with a Simple Maui wedding!
Congratulations on taking this next step in your relationship! We look forward to helping you create a magical day in paradise!

All-inclusive Maui wedding packages will help relieve your planning stress and give you the quality you are looking for! Even if you’ve never been to Hawaii before, planning a destination wedding is much easier than you ever thought possible!
The thought of planning a destination wedding from thousands of miles away can be daunting! There are hundreds of little details to manage, hours of timeline to finagle, and the uncertainty of budgeting can be extremely stressful. You want your wedding day to be perfect, but the dauntingness of planning often leads to procrastination and anxiety. Wedding packages in Maui can bring you the peace of mind and simplicity you are looking for.
Does the thought of piecing together an expensive, complicated event have you waking up in a cold sweat? Read our 7 favorite reasons why all-inclusive wedding packages in Hawaii make complete sense.
Nothing makes a better start to your dream wedding than a dream location. Maui is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful islands in the world for weddings. With luxurious resorts, gorgeous sprawling beaches, aquamarine waters, and lush tropical jungles, it’s a vacationer’s paradise.

The beautiful weather of this tropical island makes it the perfect location to host gorgeous weddings outdoors year-round. For smaller groups (up to 30 guests) you can enjoy an ocean-side Maui beach wedding location on one of our famous beaches. For larger groups or for those who prefer a more private location, we recommend several amazing Maui wedding venues with gorgeous settings and amazing quality and service.

One of the best features of an all-inclusive wedding package in Maui is it eliminates the stress of juggling vendors and all the various aspects of putting together your perfect day.
With an all-inclusive wedding package, your wedding will already include your minister, photography, floral, and location selections, and of course, your professional wedding planner. The timeline will be orchestrated by your seasoned Maui wedding coordinator, who will be in touch throughout the entire process.
Instead of getting to the island and struggling with all the details, you’ll be able to relax by the pool, knowing an efficient and personable wedding planner is handling everything.

Having a professional wedding coordinator who has planned hundreds of wedding packages walk you through the entire process is such a wonderful part of a wedding package experience.
Your dedicated planner is your friendly, constant point of contact–there to answer any questions you have and assist in alleviating any worries or concerns. Someone familiar with the entire process and able to guide you through it, helping you craft the vision for your Maui wedding.
Maui wedding planners not only know the wedding business, but they also know the island. A knowledgeable planner can make your stay a fun and memorable trip with suggestions and recommendations for things to do, memorable spots, and delicious places to get a bite to eat.

One of the more surprising things to discover about a destination wedding package is how relatively inexpensive it is compared to traditional options!
When envisioning a wedding in a luxurious tropical destination, it’s easy to imagine an equally fancy price tag. However, according to the Knot’s destination wedding cost report in 2016, the average for a US domestic wedding was close to $35,000! The average cost for a destination wedding was $28,0000, according to the same report.
Hawaii weddings have great flexibility for price points of packages. Location options can be as extravagant as your own private venue or as simple as a public beach location with that amazing Hawaii beach look. When budgeting, all-inclusive Maui wedding packages offer a great way to know the exact cost of your wedding day upfront.
Knowing your base wedding ceremony cost upfront is important so you know if you have room for add-ons and customizations to make your day truly yours.
Because destination ceremonies generally have a lower-than-average guest count, it’s possible to have a truly intimate ceremony with a perfectly designed wedding package.
Technology makes it possible to still connect with the people who cannot make it, spanning the ocean with live-streaming and shared photos of the beautiful ceremony and tropical surroundings.
The intimacy of a wedding in Hawaii opens up a great opportunity to spend quality time with select guests and family. In the days leading up to the ceremony, you can spend quality time with your loved ones — exploring the island, catching sunsets together, and enjoying delicious meals at some of the island’s best restaurants.

Having a coordinator ensures that you are not only dealing with trusted vendors with proven track records of excellence but also getting the best price.
Because of wedding coordinators’ business volume, they’re often able to secure special rates and pass the savings on to you. Established wedding coordinators spend years handpicking the best musicians, videographers, florists, photographers, and ministers.
Seasoned wedding planners have professional relationships with vendors and can help you find the perfect fit for everything. From a specific minister’s ceremony style to the amount of photography time to book based on your guest count, your Maui wedding coordinator has you covered!
Many of your guests may not have been to Hawaii before so this is a truly special experience for them too! Vibrant turquoise morning ocean colors and pastel-hued sunsets make for stunning wedding photos and enhance the memories you create with family and friends during your destination beach wedding.
Smaller guest counts of destination weddings lend themselves to real closeness and personal connection with the bride and groom, and ceremonies are often emotionally charged and engaging. A Maui destination wedding brings everyone closer together in celebration and love!
Getting married in Hawaii will always give you a great excuse to return in the future for a romantic getaway or wedding anniversary too!

Travel costs to Hawaii varies so much from all over the world, so it’s nearly impossible to create one-size-fits all package that includes airfare. Also, most wedding professionals in Maui are small businesses and don’t have the connection that larger resorts have to get special deals from airlines. Beyond the logistical aspects, there are also issues of quality to consider too…
All-inclusive wedding packages in Hawaii that include airfare don’t really exist (or are few and far between). One of the major reasons for this is the difficulty of ensuring exemplary customer experience.
You could have an amazing wedding but a miserable flight experience, which could lead to a bad review of the company just because the flight was part of the entire package. Because of the lack of control over the customer experience created by the airlines, this is one of the reasons all-inclusive Maui wedding packages usually don’t include airfare. A small business can’t afford to risk its reputation with vendors they can’t guarantee quality.
Add-ons to your wedding package can truly make the ceremony your own. Top Hawaii wedding add ons are: wedding cake, wedding arch, and the beloved orchid leis giving your guests a tropical wedding feel.
A wedding reception package can also be created so you and your guests can have an amazing after-party. We recommend you have your wedding reception at a resort so every last element doesn’t have to be delivered. Delivery fees can quickly eat up your reception budget and provide no value, while resorts have all the elements on site.
With so many pros stacked up, it’s unsurprising that one in every five couples now choose a destination wedding over one at home (1in 5 weddings are now destination)!
All-inclusive Maui wedding packages are the ultimate way to remove the guesswork and stress of putting together the perfect island wedding ceremony of your dreams. Each of these specially designed packages can also be used for a vow renewal with the same stress-free planning experience.
Why wait until your honeymoon to take a dip in the ocean with your partner when you can start your next chapter in one of the most beautiful spots in the world?
Imagine waking up to your beach wedding surrounded by the ocean and palm trees, knowing the details of your ceremony have all been taken care of. All you need to do is relax and enjoy your wedding day! That’s the perfect Maui beach wedding or venue wedding, in our opinion!

Few places are as perfect for a honeymoon as Maui. The idyllic beaches, the luminous water, the star-flooded sky—everything down to the swaying palms and gorgeous foliage evokes romance of the highest order. (And this is to say nothing of the island’s collection of impressive restaurants and dreamy resorts.)
Whether you were just married on Maui or are heading to Hawaii’s second-largest island after tying the knot at home, here’s how to have a Maui honeymoon that will live on in your mind and hearts.

Your first evenings as newlyweds ought to be spent in style—and what better way to do so than gliding on the sea aboard a luxury vessel?
The Kai Kanani has been catering to the freshly-betrothed for over three decades, and, as such, provides some of the best escapades on the island. Their Adventure Sunset Sail marries the aloha spirit with Maui’s greatest sensory delights: Magnificent views of the descending sun, the tantalizing tunes of Maui-made musician Brother Dwight, and The Market’s scrumptious food (think: seared ahi, grilled ribeye, and toasted coconut cookies).
Arrive early to Maluaka Beach—the Kai Kanani’s point of departure—for an afternoon swim before stepping onto the plush catamaran. The hours you’ll spend on the water will be nothing short of divine.

No trip to Maui is complete without paying tribute to the massive shield volcano that comprises three-quarters of the island.
Haleakala—or “House of the Sun”—soars 10,023 feet into the sky, making trips to its summit an exercise in seeing the island from an informed perspective. The behemoth’s 3,000-foot deep depression—as well as its distinctive flora and fauna—render it a pleasure to tour no matter the time of day, but a visit at sunrise is unforgettable. Otherworldly colors paint the sky as Hawaiian chanting—and a sea of onlookers—give the event a momentous, celebratory effect. As it should be: There are few spectacles as staggering as this.
While making the trip on your own is delightful, you can hand over the keys—literally—to the affable folks at Haleakala EcoTours, which will allow you and your new spouse to do little more than kick back, absorb the interpretive tour, and drink in the splendid vistas.

Above water and Maui is a sight to behold; dive under the surface of its water and another, possibly even more amazing world unfolds.
Snorkeling spots are ubiquitous around the island—particularly on the leeward side—but nothing beats zipping over to Molokini to see Hawaii’s aquatic wonders. The volcanic caldera (one of three in the world) cradles a bay that brims with ocean animals, from 250 species of fish to live—and colorful—coral. Experience all of this and more with Redline Rafting. Here, 35-foot, customized rafts are used to accommodate small groups of passengers, who are taken to Molokini before heading to the site of the island’s last lava flow.
Dubbed Maui’s Forbidden Coast, this radical coastline is alive with one marvelous sight after another, including underwater grottos, sea cliffs, pristine lava fields, even, at times, spinner dolphins. It blends intimacy with education and thrills—which, come to think of it, is just like marriage.

Take a break between adventure and great meals to capture the excitement of your honeymoon with professional Maui portrait photography. With Karma Hill’s team of talented photographers, you can get beautiful beach shots with turquoise water or amazing sunset shots before dinner without losing much time on your vacation. This is the time to get photos for your Christmas cards or just to share with friends and family.

Dining any night of the week at The Mill House Restaurant is exceptional (see the photo), but on select weekend nights, Maui Tropical Plantation undergoes a transformation of sorts as the culinary talent at its on-site restaurant hosts Maui Chef’s Table.
Drawing on the freshest seasonal ingredients—including crops that grow mere yards from The Mill House’s kitchen—the chefs create dazzling meals while explaining the stories behind their dishes (and encouraging diners to partake in a lively conversation). Communal tables give the event a dinner-party feel while the grounds—all vibrant Hawaiian flowers and relics from Maui’s sugarcane past—enhance the romance.

Bonds are inevitably intensified when you and your partner participate in an exhilarating venture—and Skyline Eco-Adventures is just the outfit to provide you with a safe and electrifying experience.
The winner of frequent accolades, including one of Fodor Travel’s world’s most amazing zip lines, their 5-line zipline on the slopes of Haleakala will leave you breathless. You’ll zoom across immense canyons, through perfumed eucalyptus forests, and above 90-foot drops—all of which will have you and your better half grinning even wider. You’ll also undoubtedly feel great in knowing you’re supporting a company that pays it forward: Skyline Hawai’i contributes a large part of its earnings to nonprofit organizations that directly assist the island.

Ancestral stories, lavish food, mesmerizing dances—the Te Au Moana Luau at the Wailea Beach Resort, Marriott Maui is sure to rise to the top of your list of lasting memories.
The location of this acclaimed performance is incredible—a seaside splendor that provides dramatic views of Molokini, Kaho’olawe, and Makena—while the cultural details, from an imu oven to kapa making, will allow you and your darling to step back into ancient Hawaii. Presented by the islands’ premier production company, Tihati, the enchanting event is punctuated by classic luau fare, notable cocktails, and stirring music. (Hello, aphrodisiac.)

Holding hands and hiking in Maui through a fog-tipped forest epitomizes romance at its finest. The chance to do so abounds across the island—from Hosmer’s Grove to Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area—but we have a soft spot for Waihe’e Ridge Trail. Here, steep ridgelines and lush vegetation lead to a 2,600-foot peak that offers views of West Maui’s verdant valleys and striking coastline.

Depending on who you’re asking, that maybe marriage itself—but in the literal sense few things are as stunning as the Road to Hana.
The three-hour drive may put undue stress on a holiday that should be marked only by contentment; with this in mind, take a guided tour with Valley Isle Excursions. The venerable company has been giving visitors remarkable trips since their inception two-plus decades ago—and has only grown in superiority.
Their custom cruisers are outfitted for comfort, with extra legroom, expansive viewing windows, climate control, and elevated seats, all of which will enable you and your S.O. to relish the sublime settings. There are many on the way to the island’s remotest outpost, from pools and gardens to gorges (even a state park that boasts a blowhole, an onyx-sand cove, and a sea arch). Slip away from your group to steal a steamy moment with your spouse. Because, really, what’s a Maui honeymoon without a kiss under a waterfall?

These are some really fun things to do if you’re getting hitched. Want more? Here are a few more Maui Honeymoon Activities.
