When he finally did, it was in front of Erika, during what she thought was a Christmas photo session. With her grandmother’s ring in his hand, he asked her to marry him. And she, through tears and laughter, told him to stand up before he hurt his knee again! Their day was proof of something simple and true: love doesn’t just survive hard things. It shines brighter because of them.

Tom, a construction estimator and branch manager, and Rose, a scheduler for Kaiser Permanente, met the way great stories often begin, through friends, at a country concert in 2019. Sparks flew somewhere between the music and the laughter, and a friendship turned into something much deeper. Four and a half years later, surrounded by their daughters on a trip to Oahu, Tom proposed the start of a new chapter built on love, family, and shared adventures.When their wedding day finally came, we couldn’t have been happier to help bring it all together and capture the magic!

They’ve visited Maui many times, once before Nyla, and three times after. It’s their soul place. Scenic, welcoming, full of beauty and spirit. So when it came time to say “I do,” Merriman’s in Maui was the obvious choice. Ocean views, glowing light, and an atmosphere that felt like home.

Their wedding was intimate, elegant, and full of love. Surrounded by close family and friends, they exchanged vows with tears and laughter and flower petals on the breeze. Their portraits? Stunning. Think golden hour light spilling across the beach, veil dancing in the wind, and Tyson looking at Kayla like a real-life romance novel cover. She looked radiant, timeless. He looked smitten. Every photo felt like a moment suspended in time.

Our Hearts As One

Their wedding at Merriman’s was every bit as heartfelt and cinematic as their origin story. Surrounded by loved ones and panoramic ocean views, they exchanged vows beneath swaying palms and the soft Hawaiian sun. We focused on capturing every in-between moment: Tyson’s proud, awe-struck gaze as Kayla walked down the aisle. Kayla’s radiant smile as she slipped that ring on his finger. But the real magic happened after the ceremony, when we took them to the beach just below Merriman’s. The golden hour light was straight out of a dream, warm, glowing, wrapped in salt-kissed breeze. Kayla’s veil caught the wind just right, Tyson’s arms wrapped protectively around her, and together they were so present and in the moment. Angelina and Joshua’s journey took them from Texas (where they met) to the stunning shores of Maui, where they said “I do” in a celebration that was the perfect blend of fun, laid-back, boho, and breathtakingly beautiful. These two adventurous souls have explored the world together: Mexico, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Italy, the Dominican Republic. And their wedding felt like the natural next chapter in their travel-filled romance.

The Royal Lahaina Resort provided the dreamiest oceanfront backdrop, with golden sunlight spilling over the palms and waves whispering nearby. And then… the arch. Oh, the arch. Draped in crisp white and adorned with the most vibrant, joyful florals you’ve ever seen, hot pink roses and dahlias, juicy tangerine blooms, and sunshine-yellow orchids that practically threw a party of their own. It was a tropical dreamscape worthy of the couple’s love story…so without further delay, let us show you more of their day!

Angelina looked radiant in her off-the-shoulder lace gown, bouquet bursting with color and confidence. Joshua, dapper in his light suit and maile lei, looked at her like she was the only person in the world (spoiler: to him, she absolutely is).

When you picture a July 4th celebration, you might think: fireworks, flags, BBQ. But this Independence Day? It was all about love, laughter, and two people saying I do on the edge of paradise. Dain and Heather’s Maui venue wedding at Merriman’s was the kind of dreamy, heart-melting magic that feels like it belongs in a Nicholas Sparks novel… if Nicholas Sparks were a little saltier and more obsessed with floral lace gowns.

With the stunning oceanfront property as their backdrop, Dain and Heather gathered with an intimate group of their closest people. The kind of crowd that makes you feel at home even when you’re standing barefoot on the most breathtaking coastline on Earth. The sun filtered through soft clouds, the waves whispered in the background, and then there they were: hand in hand, hearts wide open, exchanging vows just feet from the surf…

Heather looked radiant! Her dress was a floral lace dream with a veil that danced with the wind. Dain wore a light suit and the kind of smile that said, Yep, I’ve waited my whole life for this. Their ceremony at Merriman’s Maui was emotional, grounded, joyful… and filled with that quiet kind of happiness that doesn’t need to be shouted to be felt.

And instead (or maybe in addition!) to fireworks, their ceremony ended with a lovely petal toss by all their guests. And let’s mention everyone got the memo about the red, white, and blue dress code. How fun!

Afterward, they wandered down to the beach for newlywed portraits, the kind where the laughter is real and the kisses are spontaneous. Every photo radiates warmth and connection, like the kind of love you know will last.
