What you'll need
- Both partners age 18 or older (16–17 requires parental consent and documents)
- A valid government photo ID for each of you - passport, driver's license, or state ID
- To apply online before your trip, then meet a Maui license agent together in person — you both must appear to pick it up
- The state license fee: $65
Good to know
- No residency requirement - you don't have to live in Hawaii, and there's no citizenship requirement
- No waiting period once it's issued
- No blood test
- Valid for 30 days, so apply within a month of your date
- Bring it to your ceremony — your officiant completes the final paperwork

Yes. Our Just the Two of Us package was created for couples who want a private ceremony without guests. We arrange the beach, permits, officiant, photography, and timing, so the wedding day belongs entirely to you.
Do we need a marriage license to elope in Hawaii?
Yes. Apply online before your trip, then meet with a license agent once you arrive. There is no waiting period or residency requirement. We will guide you through every step.
What is the best time of day for a Maui elopement?
Sunset is the most requested time because the light turns warm and soft over the water. Morning ceremonies often offer quieter beaches, cooler temperatures, and bright natural light.
How do we choose the right beach?
We recommend locations based on privacy, accessibility, guest count, scenery, ceremony time, and the style of photographs you want. You will choose from options that fit your special day instead of sorting through every beach on Maui.
How much does a Maui elopement cost?
Our Maui elopement packages start at $1,850 + tax for just the two of you. A beach elopement with up to ten guests starts at $3,100 + tax. Larger Maui beach packages with additional photography run up to $5,500 + tax. Your final price depends on the package and any additions you select.
Do we have to live in the U.S. to elope on Maui?
No. Couples travel to us from across the mainland and around the world. There is no residency requirement for a Hawaii marriage license, and we handle the planning process by email and phone so everything is ready before you land.
What is included in a Maui elopement package?
Core inclusions cover your licensed officiant, ceremony location, required beach permits, professional photography, and planning support. Packages for guests also include tropical flowers and an on-site coordinator. Full inclusions appear on our packages page.
Can we invite a few guests and still call it an elopement?
Yes. Many couples invite parents, siblings, children, or a few close friends. Our Maui Elopement on the Beach package welcomes up to ten guests while keeping the ceremony personal and relaxed.
Do you provide the photographer and officiant?
Yes. Every elopement includes a licensed officiant and photography by Karma Hill Photography. Florals are created by our longtime partner Dellables. These are trusted professionals we have worked with across thousands of Maui weddings.
What happens if it rains?
Maui weather often changes quickly, and a passing shower does not always disrupt a ceremony. Our team watches conditions and communicates with you when adjustments are needed. The available options depend on your location, package, and weather conditions.
How far in advance should we book?
Earlier booking gives you the best choice of dates, ceremony times, and locations. Reach out as soon as you know your travel window. We also help couples planning on shorter timelines when the right vendors and locations are available.
