We love that November 17th forever holds a special place for this bride and groom. They met exactly 6 years before their Maui Beach Elopement! Kelsie and James met in a bar that he was singing at one night and hit it off from there. Today, James is a country singer, after doing some listening to his music on Spotify we learned he was also on The Voice in 2015, so you don’t have to take our word for it to know he’s good 😉 .

These two seriously were so cute together as they celebrated their relationship with a Maui Beach Elopement. An intimate ceremony was the perfect way for Kelsie and James to say, “I do”. They have plans to celebrate with loved ones at a reception back home after some R&R (Rest and Relaxation) here in paradise. Sounds like a great way to start off a marriage! We couldn’t be happier for Kelsie and James to experience all the joy of life together as husband and wife. Thank you, Kelsie and James, for including Simple Maui Wedding on your special day! Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

Janaye and Douglas were so great to work with for their Maui Beach Wedding! Coming from Vancouver Canada, they couldn’t wait to celebrate with loved ones. Even though Janaye has been to Maui a bunch of times, this was Douglas’ very first time here and we are positive this is a trip neither of them will ever forget!

It was especially touching to see this bride and groom with their adorable 1-year-old son! It’s obvious they love the life they have built together and cannot wait to see what the future holds. As this couple stood together, encircled by a beautiful flower arrangement on the sandy beach, it was evident they share an unbreakable bond. After their beautiful ceremony, these newlyweds took advantage of the epic scenery at Ironwoods Beach for some couples portraits with our sister company Karma Hill Photography. Unfortunately, it started raining pretty hard at the end of the evening but luckily they still managed to get a few dramatic shots on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. We are obsessed with how incredible Janaye’s wedding dress looked draped along the lava rocks! This couple rocked it at going with the flow and embracing every moment at their Maui Beach Wedding. Thank you, Janaye and Douglas, for sharing this special occasion with Simple Maui Wedding! Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

An outdoor wedding is the most popular choice for most of our couples. They are beautiful, scenic and the beach is a huge part of why our couples choose to get married in Maui. The only downside to an outdoor wedding is the fact that we are not in control of the weather! This can be a stressor at a time when you should be relaxed and happy, but don’t worry, we got you! A major part of our job here at Simple Maui Wedding is helping our wedding couples feel as stress-free as possible. So we’ve come up with the top five tips on the best way to have a fabulous Rainy Maui Wedding, no matter what.

1. DO NOT LOOK AT THE WEATHER FORECAST

Forecasting weather for a tiny island in the middle of a vast ocean is very difficult and the forecast is often wrong. Honestly, even the live weather feeds are rarely accurate. Keep in mind this is the tropics and it will almost always be raining somewhere on the island, just not necessarily where you will be getting married. Maui has many microclimates and it can be wet in one spot and dry a mile down the road.

So stay calm and think sunny thoughts! We are confident, rain or shine this day is going to be every bit as special as your relationship. If it does end up stormy on your wedding day, rest assured we have things under control and are working on a fabulous backup plan! We want nothing more than for your special day to be beautifully memorable.

If the weather isn’t ideal, we always try our best to relocate beach weddings in order to offer you the most enjoyable experience. However, if you’re up for it, a ceremony with light showers can turn out really cute and fun IRL (in real life) and on camera. We’ve had some of the best times with our couples when they were sprinkled with extra luck on their wedding day. Plus, oftentimes you’ll even see a rainbow or two and your chances of an epic sunset also go up! Don’t believe us? Check out these photos. They might even have you secretly hoping for a rainy wedding just to get some epic shots similar to these 😉 .

2. Be Prepared

Our lead coordinator Emily says that preparing for a rainy wedding both mentally and physically will help in the event it does rain. Our onsite wedding coordinators are absolutely incredible at what they do! Regardless of the weather forecast they are always prepared and have a few umbrellas on hand. When the chances of rain are more likely we stock up with all the umbrellas available. If you or wedding guests are worried at all we also invite you to bring rain protection. Most hotels have fancy umbrellas you can borrow or your guests can rock a clear plastic poncho from the ABC store. Preparing yourself mentally to be happy no matter the weather will also help. If you keep in mind you are marrying the love of your life and that is what the day is all about, no amount of water can put out that fire you have for each other!

These bucket umbrellas helped keep this couple dry on their wedding day and also made for cute props in photos.

3. Think About an Updo Hairstyle

Regardless of what hairstyle you choose, your photos will be amazing! One reason we only work with our sister company, Karma Hill Photography, is because we recognize how important your wedding photos are! We do our very best to coordinate the details of your dream wedding so it will be an incredible in-person experience, as well as look incredible in photos. So we get that you want to make sure you look good on your wedding day and not like a drowned rat, we would never want that either!

Due to the unpredictable weather and common winds in Maui, we suggest a bride consider a hairstyle that will not get blown around too much. An elegant updo or pulled back bridal hairstyle not only looks stunning but it also will help keep a bride’s hair from looking ruined in the rain. Most of the time you can hardly tell from the photos that it even rained, that is unless the photographer is purposefully trying to capture a dramatic rain shot! If you use one of our trusted hair and makeup vendors, the chances of your hair and makeup lasting in the rain is much better than if you tackle it on your own. They have proven secret ninja beauty secrets to keep our brides looking stunning in the heat, rain, and wind!

This bride and groom looked incredible together despite the rainy weather at their beach wedding.

A bonus tip for you grooms out there: It’s always a good idea to wear an undershirt and dark pants at a beach wedding. This way if the weather does turn for the worse your shirt won’t end up see-through and your pants won’t show dark rain spots. We promise you’ll thank us for this added suggestion, and so will your bride 🙂 .

This groom and his groomsmen embraced already being wet from the rain to splash around in the crashing waves.

4. Choose a Location in South Maui

If you want to reduce the chance that you will get rained on, choose a beach location in South Maui. This area of the island is almost always sunny, which is why it is the area we recommend most for weddings. However, nothing is ever 100% guaranteed. When it does rain at Southside Beach the epic lighting and incredible sunsets at this spot never disappoint. We’ve had some of the most beautiful rainy weddings at this location.

5. Consider a Maui Venue Wedding vs. a Maui Beach Wedding

If rain is a major concern for you and you’d rather play it safe we totally understand and highly suggest booking a venue for your wedding day! Most of our Maui wedding venues have an indoor and outdoor option so if it does end up raining you can always head inside for the ceremony.

If you’re considering having a Maui Venue Wedding for the possibility of an indoor ceremony, Steeple House is ideal! Their inside and outside settings are equally stunning, making it the perfect option if you want the comfort of having an awesome backup plan in place.

The Steeple House Indoor Ceremony option

The Steeple House Outdoor Ceremony Option

Whatever you decide, we want your stress levels to be low and we will take care of everything on our end to ensure this is one of the happiest days of your life!

We absolutely love how this wedding at Gannon’s turned out! The couple said, “I do” in front of the open doors so the lush greenery is still in their ceremony’s background. They even got to head outside for a few stunning sunset photos once the rain calmed down.Maui wedding venue to avoid rain

As you can see, rain on your wedding day doesn’t have to be the end of the world. In fact, it can make your day even more memorable and incredible! Our last advice is this, DON’T WORRY! If you make the most of it, we believe your wedding will be every bit as magical as it was for all the bride and grooms pictured above. Hawaii isn’t considered paradise for no reason. Having your wedding here will be an amazing experience regardless of what the weather forecast might indicate. Trust us 🙂 .

Yoshimi and Aaron’s Maui Venue Wedding was truly spectacular! After meeting by chance at an event in Aaron’s hometown of Wellington, NZ these two wanted their wedding day to be every bit as special as their love story. While they had to overcome many cultural differences while dating, the bond they share is unbreakable! It was especially touching to witness as they moved closer together during their ceremony to exchange a few private vows for only their ears. We think this is such a sweet idea and know it’s an experience neither of them will ever forget!

The details at this Maui Venue Wedding were almost unreal! These custom florals created by Dellables were so so good. We love how deep berry colored flowers mixed with greenery created an elegantly romantic vibe at The Steeple House! That’s not all that was on point though, this couple’s wedding attire was so stunning they looked like they belonged in a magazine! Yoshimi looked breathtakingly beautiful in a princess line wedding dress that was so gorgeous we are still obsessing over it. Her groom looked equally stylish in a formal suit, he expertly paired a navy jacket with a light gray vest and slacks. These two are sharp dressers that’s for sure! Working with them to make this day a dream come true, was an absolute pleasure. Thank you, Yoshimi and Aaron, for letting Simple Maui Wedding participate in celebrating your marriage! Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

We loved helping plan this Maui Venue Wedding! This bride and groom met and started dating while Bryce was studying abroad for one month in Japan. They fell so in love that Megumi ended up moving to the US to be with him! 8 years ago they had a simple civil ceremony to begin the immigration process. So they were extremely excited to bring their families together in Maui to celebrate their love with a vow renewal! How sweet is that? We are obsessed with this couple and their story 🙂 .

As Megumi and Bryce stood under a bamboo arch overlooking the bright blue ocean at their Maui Venue Wedding, they were filled with so much gratitude for each other! They have built a wonderful life together and are looking forward to all the adventures that await them. These two were so darling together and we loved the message they shared during their couples portraits. “We still do”, three simple yet such powerful words! We love and admire the way Megumi and Bryce are every bit as committed to each other as they were 8 years ago. Their relationship is truly inspiring! Thank you, Megumi and Bryce, for letting Simple Maui Wedding share in the joy of this special day! Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

Melanie and Bryan couldn’t have been sweeter together at their Maui Beach Wedding! After being together for 2 years after meeting on match.com they were so excited to start this next chapter in their journey together. Surrounded by their loved ones on this special day, these two were more than ready to seal the deal!

As the ceremony started out, little Ella scattered flower petals for the bride and her mother to follow on the sandy beach. She did an incredible job and looked so cute while grabbing a handful at a time. The moment Melanie made her entrance and found her way to her groom, Bryan’s face lit up with a genuine smile! It’s easy to see these two make each other the happiest and can’t imagine their lives without each other. They cannot wait to experience everything life has to offer as a married couple! We especially love that they made plans to go on a waterfall hike the day after the wedding with all their wedding guests and then the two of them plan to head to Ka`anapali for the rest of their honeymoon. What a perfect way to start off a marriage! Thank you, Melanie and Bryan, for sharing your special day with the Simple Maui Wedding team. We wish you every happiness! Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

We had so much fun with Brittany and James at their Maui Beach Wedding! They are originally from Georgia but live in Florida now. This was their first time to Maui, and they love it so much they are already making plans to retire here! We totally support this goal and can’t wait to have this fun sweet couple to come join us on the island permanently 🙂 .

This bride and groom had a beautiful ceremony at Southside Beach followed by a cake cutting and super adorable gender reveal! Brittany is just over 3 months pregnant and was so excited to share this moment with their family at their Maui Beach Wedding. They had a wedding guest bring a festive wooden box with leis inside that would reveal their baby’s gender. Such a fun idea! It was so cute to watch as these newlyweds and soon to be parents, reached into the box to pull out blue leis! Their reaction was the best thing ever, we absolutely love how enthusiastic James was. Clearly, he is excited to be a father of a little baby BOY! With how loving these two are with each other, we have no doubt they will rock it at life. Thank you, Brittany and James, for sharing this special day with the Simple Maui Wedding team! We wish you all the best in the journey ahead. Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

After meeting at the gym a little over two years ago, Rachel and Matt chose to get married at a beautiful Maui Wedding Venue highlighting the lush greenery of the island. Check out that view! It’s hard to imagine a more stunning location to get married. To embrace the Aloha vibe, even more, all of their wedding guests were dressed in festive Hawaiian inspired attire. This idea turned out so cute and was executed in a really fun and classy way, we love it!

This bride and groom not only were incredibly sweet together, but they also looked fantastic. Rachel was absolutely stunning in a BHLDN dress with such beautiful detailing, we are obsessed with her entire look! We also cannot get over this elegant updo Salon 253 gave our bride, so gorg! Finished off with a few flowers to match her Custom Bouquet and she was wedding ready 🙂 . Matt looked like a movie star he was so dashing in his three-piece gray suit and blue tie! We love how Rachel’s bouquet was wrapped with a navy ribbon to match the blue stone in her wedding ring! These blue accents tied everything together perfectly at their Maui Wedding Venue. Thank you, Rachel and Matt, for including Simple Maui Wedding on this very special occasion. Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

Sara and Kyle got engaged here on Maui two years ago, and they quickly decided a Maui Destination Wedding was exactly what they wanted! They then came back last year to pick the beach they wanted to get married on, and wisely chose to have their ceremony at Southside Beach. We love this location because the weather is almost always beautiful, the scenery is stunning, and it is a relatively private spot with very few passersby. Making it an ideal spot for a couple to say, “I do” 🙂 .

Everything about this Maui Destination Wedding was positively perfect! We especially cannot get enough of the florals made by Dellables. From flower crowns, to custom bouquets, plus an incredible Maile Lei with orchids for the groom, and an awesome Palm Semicircle in the sand this wedding was decked out in festive style. That’s not all that caught our attention though, Sara was breathtakingly beautiful and it’s obvious Kyle agreed. The moment he turned around and saw his bride making her way down the sandy aisle, we could tell he was amazed and considered himself so lucky to get to marry her in just moments. With the way these two looked at each other and held each other close all throughout the morning, we are confident they will have a long and happy life together! Thank you, Sara and Kyle, for including Simple Maui Wedding on your very special day! Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

Melissa and Craig’s Maui Beach Wedding was full of so much emotion! From tears to laugher, these two kept smiles on their faces the whole evening. This groom wanted this day to be absolutely perfect for his bride! He knew she would be missing her mother on this special day and so he called us back in September asking we include Melissa’s deceased mother in the ceremony. We were more than happy to accommodate this request and thought it was such a sweet idea for him to also want to have a lei release to further surprise Melissa and remember her mother. Witnessing as they shared this special moment was one of the most touching experiences! And we know it is one they will always hold close to their hearts!

Anyone who has had the privilege of being in Melissa and Craig’s presence knows they are meant to be together. We could tell by the look on their faces at their Maui Beach Wedding that they love they have for each other is so genuine and deep, nothing will ever be able to stand in the way of their happiness. We are so excited for them to experience everything life has in store for them as a married couple! It’s going to be wonderful 🙂 . Thank you, Melissa and Craig, for trusting Simple Maui Wedding to make this day every bit as special as your relationship. Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

Fonda and Zachary had a truly memorable Maui Elopement! Even though they were getting married at the beach, they still wanted a fall vibe. This bride requested the most stunning Custom Bouquet and Flower Crown to match. We love the way these florals turned out to create a rustic tropical boho look. That’s not all that was on point though! This couple’s wedding styling was perfect for a Maui Elopement. There are so many ways to dress for a beach wedding, and we’ve seen it all! It can be tricky to match shades of white and so we love how Fonda and Zachary went with a neutral pallet in order to coordinate but not clash. See for yourself!

We are obsessed with this bride’s simple crochet wedding dress, she looked stunning and even though it rained on their wedding day you’d never be able to guess by how put together she looks in these photos. It was an especially smart idea for her to wear her hair styled back so when it got wet it didn’t look flat, the flower crown also acted as a sort of protection by helping keep the rain off her face. Whether this was intentional or not, it worked out wonderfully! The groom wisely chose to wear a linen shirt with linen pants for a casual yet classy look, linen is always a nice option for a Maui wedding because it keeps you cool in the hot weather and doesn’t look obviously wet if it starts sprinkling. Nicely done, Zachary! These two also lucked out and got to escape the rain and have a few dramatic photos taken at the nearby hotel they were staying at, the Montage. We are so glad it worked out for them to head to this new location and get some unique photos on their wedding day! As we parted ways these excited newlyweds headed to Japengo for a celebratory dinner. What a wonderful way to end such a wonderful day 🙂 . Thank you, Fonda and Zachary, for including Simple Maui Wedding on this very special occasion! Congratulations and Warm Aloha!

Federico and Sebastian arrived in style at their Maui Beach Wedding! Dressed to impress this couple made quite the entrance at Southside Beach. Not only were their outfits spot on but we are obsessed with how they held hands as they walked down the aisle. Does it get any sweeter than holding the hand of the one you love? We think not!

This happy couple is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentia but currently live in Seattle. They are making plans to move to New York City to be surrounded by great culture, people and energy! Sounds incredible! One thing’s for sure, these two love adventure and have been enjoying exploring Maui. They couldn’t wait to drive the road to Hana to take in even more of the island’s scenic beauty! Before returning home they are excited to spend time on Oahu for an extended honeymoon vacation. We love their passion for life and especially their passion for each other! With this key ingredient, we’d say their marriage is off to a great start 🙂 . Thank you so much, Federico and Sebastian, for sharing your special day with the Simple Maui Wedding team!
