Ashly & Shawn’s Makena Beach House Maui Destination Wedding

A Maui destination wedding that starts with a cake-topped proposal and ends with ocean-kissed vows is already winning, but Ashly and Shawn somehow made it even sweeter.

These two Tennessee lovebirds first met thanks to well-meaning friends and a setup that didn’t quite go as planned. A year later, they reconnected and never looked back. Timing really is everything. Shawn sealed it with a birthday surprise that turned into a proposal. Ashly came home expecting cake, then spotted a ring on top that read “Marry Shawny,” a sweet nod from her daughter that makes the whole story feel like a rom-com you never want to end.

Set at the Beach House in Makena, Maui, their ceremony felt like a sunlit dream. Towering floral arrangements framed the aisle just steps from the ocean. Palm trees swayed overhead as if they were part of the celebration.

Ashly looked radiant in her flowing gown, and Shawn was all smiles in his light suit. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they exchanged vows with waves rolling in behind them. It was joyful, intimate, and full of heart.
